Home made. Whats your specialty?
« on: December 06, 2019, 08:20:52 am »
This is my second attempt at wine making.  The first batch was made from grapes that I grew.  I thought that wine was amazing.  Now the first attempt at home made apple wine.  I brought a bunch of apples from my daughters house this summer.  Cleaned a froze them.  Yesterday I started the wine process with these apples.  Making home made wine usually scared me.  Always heard you had to be so careful or you could get sick.  Same with canning.  I really wish I would have ignored all that.  I get so much joy and entertainment out of doing this myself.  Do you make home made things?  Canning, sewing,  or wine making?

I make a homemade  banana bread. I make it  using about 3 large bananas , and all the other ingredients. you could also add walnuts to it but I leave them out.  .It is good for a morning or anytime snack :)

I make homemade afghans and scarves and hats and such by crocheting or knitting them. I get real relaxation and enjoyment out of making things like this. I especially like to keep my hands busy while watching TV programs. This year I am donating most of my stuff to a charity sale for a cause I support.

No that isn't my thing - my sister-in-law is a quiz at home made they can stuff her and her husband, tried bee keeping, she bakes. I used to teasingly call her Suzie homemaker

My specialty used to be making bread and butter, peanut butter cups, caramel popcorn, halupkies, canning veggies, and crocheting afghans. I gave up making bread because hubby used to take  5 loaves or more on hunting trips with the boys and it would be gone in one night and because it became too hard on my hands kneading the dough.  Same with crocheting afghans. Too hard on my wrists and hands. Very painful. Gave up canning because we no longer have a garden and my canning equipment is somewhere in the shed for the last 22 years when we were moving and I can't find it. We had a friend store our goods in the shed since we both worked long hours back then and he was unemployed at the time. Now I just cook.

I make lots of homemade things, but my favorite is Brunswick Stew in my 5 quart dutch oven.  My grandmother use to help make huge pots at our church to sell and she figured out how to make it in the 5 quart dutch oven.

I would love to make homemade wine! I've been interested in an Alchema, the thing that you don't have to have a lot of wine-making tools to make wine with. But it's $400, so that'll have to wait a while, LOL! I myself make lasagna (with store-bought noodles) and gnocchi (from scratch). I also crochet quite a bit, mostly blankets.  :peace:
