When doctor's have a bad bedside manner
« on: November 21, 2019, 10:44:51 am »
Wow ok both eyes have had cataract surgeries done and I am so glad.  I am not sure the second one came out as good but I hope and pray I find out different on the 26th when my regular eye doc checks me out.  I do know one thing I am glad this is it - my surgeon was a massive jerk.  Well will leave it at that but he was a jerk in booth surgeries and I am glad it is over and done with and I can move forward (move forward lol and see where I am going hahaha)

I have seen a couple of doctors in the past that were jerks.  One was so bad I got up and walked out of the exam room.  And NO I did not pay anything.

I've had several procedures done and two have made the joke about me being their first patient or that they just learned it yesterday. of course they were kidding and they were very friendly. I think it helps that the procedures have been at teaching hospitals so those doctors need some sense of interpersonal skills.

I have not experienced that before. I am in the healthcare field and good beside manner is one of the most important things for a healthcare professional to have. I am sorry that he was a jerk!

I am glad for you that you have had your surgeries and pray that both have been perfectly done and your eyes will be better than ever. That will make dealing with the jerk worthwhile

I would not be comfortable with a doctor telling me I am the first patient he has done this procedure on. I am not your guinea pig.  Also don't think I would want to go to a "teaching hospital".  Of course they have students doing interns all the time.  But more and more people make mistakes that cost a person their life and it is written off as just a mistake.  Kind of like forgetting to not put pickles on my burger.

I think as our world / country changes things like this will only get worse.  People are rude.  And that is not getting any better.  And honestly it isn't going to.  You think it is bad now....just wait until after Jesus takes the Christians out of here.  Then you will really see bad.

Most of the doctors I've encountered have been nice and professional. But there are some bad ones out there.

I've lived a long time and I've experienced the best and the worst; the good, the bad and the ugly.  :bootyshake:

A doctor is a very important person in our healthcare routine. If they're not showing themselves worthy of being in your corner change them for heaven sake.

Change them?  You can't change them.  They have to change themselves.  Most do not see an issue with the way they act.  If you mean change doctors that is not always possible either.  Depends on the type of doctor it is. And the other options are not always a lot better.
