I've known people who put up Christmas decorations beginning of November. I wait til the end of November or beginning of December.

Every one is different.  And that is what is great.  I was at Dollar Tree picking up a few things and the cashier was talking about all the Christmas decorations and she wanted all this stuff.  I said I was putting up my stuff today. OR starting it.  And a guy about 3 back was laughing and chimed in and said now it is too early for all that. lol  Pretty sure it was the cashier's boyfriend.  We were all laughing.

I love Christmas and Hanukkah decorations and don't care when people decide to put them up. The earlier, the better it is for me - I get to get in the holiday spirit early by seeing the lights light up at night after the early sundown.

Here is my personal preference and/or how I do it. I decorate for fall/halloween on October 1st and take that stuff down the days after Halloween (if I have help) my stuff is still up because I had eye surgery and no help.  Normally then I put up Thanksgiving kind of decorations on November 1st thereabouts and take those down end of Nov.  Then you got it Christmas stuff December 1st to come down end of December.  However for everyone else do your own thing its not my business I say live and let live whatever makes ya happy   :snowman: :turkey: :pumpkin:

That is what I say.  It is your house.  It takes me a few days to get all my stuff up so I start early.

I have always waited at least until the weekend after Thanksgiving to put up my tree.  Sometimes it would be the next weekend if I was busy Thanksgiving weekend.  I don't have a problem with when someone else puts up their tree, after all the stores have theirs up now.

Our Christmas tradition is to put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and to take it down on New Year's Day. I guess we do it that way because that's how our families used to do it, and so and and so on.  It doesn't really bother me to see Christmas lights and decorations on people's houses before Thanksgiving, but it does bug me that stores start selling Christmas stuff before Halloween has even occurred!  I think that it just takes some of the magic out of shopping when the Christmas stuff is out too long and is not new and special during the actual holidays.  :peace:

I'm so happy it's that time of the year again! I don't think it's too early personally. Christmas only comes once a year so you may as well enjoy it as long as you can.

Yeah, I am with the other person. I do not want to pay my neighbors "Christmas" light bill! They already have them up, more as a Halloween thing, I guess, but they are not Halloween colors other people are doing, purple or orange. They are just white, alien lights at least on one night they were supposed to seem like, little alien antlers. They a little "extra" "waste." They don't announce anything or signify anything special. The apartment above me are not true witnesses or S.S. There I said a little too much. I think they need to pay for, cover, their own light bill. They need to pay for their own cover too. I don't know about their other light usage patterns and etc. But, they haven't ever taken care of me, let alone so much, not too much, that I don't need to pay for it. Just go away. Buzz off!

This weekend I'm going down to the basement and bringing up some Christmas decorations.  We won't put the tree up until after Thanksgiving (family tradition), but the inside will be completely decorated.  Hopefully there will be a nice weekend so my husband can put the outside lights and decorations up, if not, I guess he freezes lol

For people who get paid once a month or who decorate early having the decorations available earlier is a good thing. Usually it is one section of the store and you do not even have to go in to that area.  I do see what you are saying though because come middle of December all the Christmas stuff will be gone and they will have Valentine stuff out. lol

We haven't put decorations up for years now. Kids and grandkids are all grown now, so we don't bother. I do miss a tree but it's such a hassle, too, because a certain someone in this household never has time to take it down and take it out. Ahem...one year, it was almost July 'till he took it out, at least the tree, but not the pine needles. There were there in the carpet for the next 2 years. Why didn't I take it out? Because the trees were always 6 ft. or higher and my job was to add and take off the decorations, not take out the tree.

I used to lvoe driving around and seeing all the decorations in the towns and homes. I used to take friends that don't drive so they could enjoy them, too. Now I can't drive but there's no one who woill take me around to see the decorated places.  :(

Well I have worked for 2 days.  I should be able to finish tomorrow.  Maybe you could get a fake tree.  Even just get a smaller pre lite one so you could have a tree.  I do a lot of decorations inside.  I like to look at them.
