Surveys that want you to Download an App

I'm leery about those that want you to download a special app. I had a survey that was to pay a couple cents and did it...then it wanted me to download an app for extra $2. It would follow my browsing history for 60 days. I refused, don't trust apps like that. Well, didn't get credit for the pennies, either. I don't think that was fair. The app part was EXTRA, not part of the original survey.

Does anyone trust those download extras?

Absolutely not. I never download anything of that sort. You never know of a virus,

I actually have a couple apps like that on my laptop right now, can't remember if they were part of a survey though. One of them I have already done follow-up surveys on, the other I have done nothing with. I will probably take them off soon. I really should keep better track of why and how I got them to begin with I guess, but so far no harm has come out of them as far as I know.

  I don't trust them either.  Surveys should really tell you at the start of the survey, if that is involved.

I'm with you. I am leery when a survey wants you to download or install anything. You never know what you are being sent.

i definately won't download anything for survey. I am always afraid of  viruses and malware.
i also don't like surverys that ask of info such as name and address

I never down load anything they ask me to use.

I have been known to download add ons in order to complete surveys, and have never had a problem with them (that I know of), but I, too, think its a bad idea.  I delete them as soon as I'm finished with them. You just get lucky if no harm ensues!

I downlaoded an app once from a survey but it was not for browsing history. It was a beverage survey and I entered in my own data. was sent a $35 gift card a few weeks later

I've downloaded an app from a survey before and received my reward after keeping installed for a certain period of time. I can be happy to do them again as long the software is safe and continue receiving my reward.

I would not do that.  Esp when it says it "follows" you.  I have downloaded an app where you do a certain type of diary ie what you eat or drink for a certain number of days.  I also did get paid.  And it paid really well.  I think the one was $30.  I have done it more than once.

You do know that when you do a survey thru this site they have your name and address anyway - right?

If you do not believe me then submit a support ticket and ask.  I done a survey a couple years ago and was leery about some of the questions asked and I submitted a ticket and asked if they knew who you were or are our answers anonymous.  The snippy reply I got was "Of course they know who you are.  If you are not comfortable answering the questions just X out and try another one".

I do agree though and usually exit surveys that want me to re-enter my full name and address.  And you really have no idea who is behind any of the surveys you do.  And I do not think PTC sites are protective of members who do the surveys.  They get paid by the one behind the survey and that is all they care about.  THEY get paid.
