My Newest Toy
« on: October 12, 2019, 09:15:18 am »
As I get older, the Arthritis in my hands makes it harder to comment on the forum or write press releases for my IBO Toolbox.  So you can imagine how happy I was to be reminded that windows 10 now comes with voice recognition built in.

Now I can just talk (which is something I'm pretty good with) and then paste it into the forum comment box and I'm good to go (after I make a few corrections or fix the punctuation).  I would much rather proofread than type.

If you are curious if this would work for you, do a Google search for Win 10 speech recognition and it may be a big surprise to you how simple it is to set up and use.

Now I don't need to worry about how long my comments or posts are, because I can just talk and post.

If you want to see some more examples just Google IBO toolbox oldbuddy And read some of my latest Press Releases.

Is it that Cortana feature that Windows has?    I would like to do dictation instead of typing when I'm on my laptop... that would be awesome if so.   Glad it is working out for you, I'll go check out your toolbox -- I don't know what that is either, so thanks for posting as I love to learn new computer stuff :)

On a side note, have you ever used Blu Emu for your Arthritis?  I've heard that helps.

Cortana is similar, but more for controlling your computer and searching. When I use voice recognition I speak into my microphone and it puts the text in a little box and I can paste into whatever area that I wanted, like I'm doing right now.

I have heard of Blu Emu, but never tried it. My Arthritis goes way beyond my hands, but that's pretty common after reaching your 80's.

That voice recognition comes in super handy. I have that on my new smartphone and yes it really helps to say the least.

I have it load when I start Windows, but I don't need it all the time. It puts a bar on my desktop that I can activate with one click when I do feel the need, so it's very handy.

I just realized that this voice dictation comes in really handy when I am taking surveys, if they have text inputs.
