People who blow horns
« on: September 01, 2019, 12:38:27 pm »
Does it bother you when someone comes to your house and instead of coming to the door just sits in the driveway blowing the horn?

Or when lazy people visit your neighbor's and just sit in the road and blow the horn continuously for 10 minutes?

And before you say it, NO they are not handicapped.  They are lazy.

I have actually told people and gotten pretty aggravated with people for doing that at my house.  Either get out and come to the door, or call me and tell me you are in the driveway and are too lazy to get out and walk to the door and ask me to come outside.

Well no one I know does that but it they did I would have to ask them to stop and never to do that again one because I think that it rude and second I live in the kind of neighborhood that wouldn't tolerate that lol our HOA would complain or try to fine us I'm sure.

Well I do not have a HOA and I don't think I would like it.  But I don't want to draw attention to the fact that I am leaving either, say if someone is picking me up.

But yes it is  rude.  People do it at my neighbor's house ALL the time.  I don't think the woman likes it too much. Her husband probably does not care.

When I typed this my neighbor had a person sitting in front of her home for about 10 minutes blowing the horn.  People come by her house all the time and sit there and blow the horn.  One visitor starts blowing half way up the road and blows til she gets in her drive way.  Highly irritating.

I have never had that happen to me.  If someone is coming over to visit me they come to the door.  If they are just picking me up they usually send me the "I'm Here" text.

I do agree with you that it would irritate me if they sat in the driveway honking their horn.

Never had this happen and usually if I am being picked up I watch for the person so I am ready to leave when they pull in my driveway.  They usually text or call and let me know that they are on the way.

I haven't experienced this in a long time, since I've moved from my old location. People where I live now live much farther apart. I'm not sure I'd notice if it did happen.

But yes it would bother me. I also don't like when people honk at you while you're driving. There's not usually a good reason for it unless they're chagrined with you for some reason.  >:(

Never had this happen.  Almost everyone has a cell phone, so they can just t call them and let the person know they outside.

We don't have much horn-blowing in my neighborhood, which is mostly families and elderly people. It does happen once in a while, and I just roll my eyes and continue on with what I'm doing. I don't think I know anybody personally who would be rude enough to blow the horn in the driveway or on the street to get someone's attention inside. But then again, I always try to be ready to go to their car the moment they pull into the driveway, so no "need" for a horn.  :peace:

I  don't have anyone who  pulls up and starts  blowing their horn. Either get out and come to the door or call me, or nowadays text me to let me know your  outside. My  family knows better. It was funny when I started dating and if  a boy  was to  blow his horn, my dad would go out and talk to him. The  young man would get out of his car and  come to the door, then mother would answer the door and tell him he was early and he would  have to wait until I was  ready.  I was always ready, but  they  (mom and  dad) were teeming up to teach  him manners.  Sometimes I got the giggles but. It worked they would not blow the horn anymore.

I don't have this problem where we live now, but in our other home it happened a lot.  Across the street were 2 teenaged girls. When their friends, boys or girls, came for them the car would sit in front of the house and blow the horn until one of the girls finally came out.

They may have a good reason for not getting out, in my neighborhood it does happen, but not for 10 minutes.  They will pull up and honk once....a lot of the homes here have small children and with the heat we have been having you cannot just get out and leave the kids in the car.  One honk is not really annoying to me, but 10 minutes would certainly be so.

If you come to my home sit in my driveway and blow your horn you can sit in my driveway and blow your horn I’m not going to acknowledge you unless you have a disability and I know this you will not get a response for me.
