Hi, my name is theresa and I am sorry to hear about your dog. we had a saint Bernard, they don't live long because there hearts are to small for there size, anyway he just died on 2/12/10. I've never had a dog of my own, but I walk my friend's dog, Angel, every week. I get lots of love from that goofy, bouncy animal!!

Dogs are the best!!  I hate people when they only like them when they are puppies or when they are cute, but when they are getting old, and not so cute enought they try to get rid of them... sad!

  I LOVE DOGS  well really all animals in general but dogs really capture my heart. My dogs teach me patience, loyalty, humility, compassion, etc. I don't understand how any one could ever be cruel and unkind to animals. Please if you or anyone you know are thinking about getting a dog please know this is major commiment, godwilling up to 17 years commiment, and a lot of responsibility. It saddens me to see animals go to shelters by pet owners who can't fulfill their obligation to love and care for their pets.

I love my dog Josie.

Randomly one day a year or so ago a friend of mine convinced me to just up and rescue a dog from our local animal shelter.  So we went to the animal shelter, and immediately all the dogs start jumping up and down doing their "Pick Me! Pick Me!" dance.  Except for one. 

A small 12lb boston terrier chihuahua mix was in the back corner all alone, looking very depressed.  Without a second thought, I said I wanted her.  I just felt a connection with her.  It turned out she had been used as the mama at an unregistered puppy mill, and had was very badly abused (who abuses a 12lbs dog! that's just sick!)  She didn't trust anyone, and still won't to some extent; but her rehabilitation has been progressing.  She had been in the animal shelter for 43 days!  If I had waited 2 more days, they would have put her to sleep.

She's such a lovable and loving dog.  And she has the most complex emotions I've ever seen in a dog!  She's grateful for everything you give her.  I don't know what kind of sick people scarred my josie for the rest of her life; but im glad she's in good care now with me and my girlfriend.  Josie is almost surprised when someone is nice to her; it's so sad.  Slowly but surely, she's being rehabilitated.  And she's gone a long way in the past 18 months.  She's like a whole other dog!
