I was laid of from JoAnn's since 2008. I work for seasonal jobs @ Hickory Farms - I was going do it again last year. They want me get a food handling card.

I work from home a couple days a week, at the office the other days. I don't have any distractions though. I like working at home, because it's more comfortable. But I do go a little stir crazy if I stay home too many days in a row. And then I drive to the office and remember how much I hate the commute. There are pros and cons to both.

After doing surveys from home for the last 9 years, I think working a regular job is the way to go. I like working when I want too but the pay is terrible and if things where different for me, I would just get a regular job.

The thing is "surveys" is NOT a job!  There is NO way to earn the same amount of money doing surveys that you would working a real job.  You cannot even make $7.25 (the federal min wage) doing surveys.

I agree with this statement.  I work from the office most of the time, and I am productive, but when I have to work from home for whatever reason, I feel that I have to work harder to proof that I am actually working!  At the end of the day I feel more tire been at home and working than if I come to the office.

I work from home part-time, but my dream is to work from home full time. I don't think working from home is for everyone because you have to be good at managing your time. Working outside of the home is a little more challenging for me because you have to be on a strict schedule. I like the flexibility of being able to take a day off and not have to wait for approval from someone else. I like managing myself and not being managed by others.

But most real work from home jobs like the call center customer service you are on a set schedule.  I interviewed for one of these positions.  I was going to have a set schedule with clock in and out times. Specific break times and I was told I would be working most evenings and all holidays as the company offers 24/7 customer support.

I guess I need to start telling people my PTC sites are working from home. lol

I currently say that I work from home because all of my money comes from "get paid to" sites. If an opportunity erupts that will benefit my career (CJ major and Psych minor), I will work a "real" job for the experience during summer months. But while I can make enough to get buy as well as some "extra", I love to work in the comfort of my own home.

It is a struggle because people don't understand that I'm not "playing" on my computer, I'm working. I'd love to buy a house with a designated office area.

I think it takes more effort to work from home than to go to a job outside the house.   Mostly because family and friends don't understand that just because you are at home doesn't mean you are available.  I am willing to give it one more effort.  Hopefully this will work for me.  Do any of you work from home or have wanted to?

Family and friends have to be made to understand the workplace, in this case the home, is to be just that.  During business hours, work is to be done without needless interruptions.  Keep the lines of communication open on this subject.

My husband and I own our business. We do the majority of our work at our home office.  Even though there are no kids around, there are other things that could be potential interruptions.  We are able to easily keep everything under control.  We consistently have a productive home work environment.

I have worked in offices and from home, I find that I had more distractions at work than at home.  I use to go in very early to get everything done before all the distractions started.  I  working from home.

I am curious as to how you make enough on sites like this to even get by without income from somewhere else.

I do agree that if I can make enough to "get by" doing stuff like this from home and not having to go out in this crazy insane world I am all for it.  I guess it is all well and good but if you ever want to get a loan (like buying a house) as you said you need real steady income.  Nobody will give you a loan for a house when your only income is doing surveys on the internet.

But more and more I am seeing "survey taker" as being a job.  I guess if you want to put that on a resume and say I made 30 cents an hour ... haha

I see people thumping their referral links all over the internet with claims of making thousands of dollars a month or hundreds a day.  Or saying surveys pay $50 or more.  All this is bogus.  There are some things like that but they are VERY FEW AND FAR between.  I did do a survey once that paid $100 for one hour.  But you do not see that often at all.  Anyway, I guess the lies gets them referrals. lol  If I have the opportunity I call them out on the lies.

I'm employed by a company but I get to work from home. There are perks to it such as no commuting at all. However, because I am home, people forget that I am doing a job that I was hired to do. I am still on the clock despite my location of work.
