Microwave or no Microwave
« on: July 29, 2019, 10:20:11 am »
Mine is mainly for just reheating things.  My kitchen is so small that the microwave sits in a very inconvenient spot for easy cleaning.  I have been wanting to just throw it out.  I was reminded with a simple question "How would my housemate eat?"  As he eats frozen meals.  Yuck.  I have heard of people just throwing theirs out to encourage better eating habits.  That would not be a reason for me to toss mine out.  I just hate cleaning it.  I am trying to simplify my household chores.   Has anyone just up and got rid of their microwave for any reason?  Do you still use one?

I haven't had a microwave for about 8 years. I moved into a new place, got rid of the old microwave that I had and never replaced it. I just warm my leftover on the stove or in the oven.

I use the microwave when I need something fast. Otherwise the stove is still my preferred method.

I clean my microwave when it looks unclean but at the top of it, (the splashes etc.) I don't bother with. Never thought about throwing out my microwave. I have thought about purchasing another one though. Time to upgrade.

It definitly comes in handy sometimes and its quick but youre right about what its mainly for so if youd rather have quality over convience youre on the right track.

I use my microwave every day, mostly for warming up leftovers.

I still use mine. I've been using one for like 25 years. When my late hubby was here, he liked his food warmed up on the stove. I recently replaced the one I had for 24.5 years; it stopped heating properly.

Although not in as much demand as cell phones, I am not so sure my family could live without the microwave. I use it at four in the morning when I make my coffee. My wife uses it to thaw frozen fruit for her morning smoothie. My daughter heats the water for her oatmeal. My son uses it to make a half pound of bacon to go with his eggs in the morning. And this much action just covers breakfast! Lunch is leftover heating time for all of us-using the microwave. Dinner, twice a week, will be leftovers. My son heats up pre-made wings and pizza rolls after a hard days work, My daughter will thaw out ice cream that is too hard. We are on our second microwave oven in the last twenty years and spared no expense when purchasing the last one.

my daughter doesn't use a microwave have to ask her why. I like to put frozen meals  when in don't want to cook or dirty things up. I think maybe its not good to stand in front ofthem.

I keep a microwave since it's so much easier to cook with than having to do it by stove, oven, or any other way that I currently can't think of right now.
