eating wild food
« on: July 20, 2019, 10:47:25 am »
I find it so amazing the things that are edible.  Like roses and flowers.  More recently I have learned to identify a few wild plants.  Look just like weeds to me.  Been pulling and throwing them away.  So knowing that dandelions are edible I thought well why not the others stuff.  Sure enough lambs quarter.  (Wild Spinach) except better for you.  Wow I have been trying to get rid of it.  I tried it.  I like it.   It has a home in my yard now.  Do you know whats in your yard?

Interesting.

I don't think I have any edibles in my yard, although, I do have mint growing like a weed that occasionally goes in iced tea.

I have a turtle that loves dandelions & eats them as soon as he finds them. Perhaps some day I'll try a leaf.

I don't know about plants, but I have been enjoying some wild Sockeye Salmon I brought home from Alaska. It's great that we can freeze it and put it in a cooler to check like any other luggage to fly home. 8 hours later it was still hard as a rock and ready to go in my home freezer.

My yard is some grass with a lot of weeds that I don't know anything about.  So I wouldn't eat them. :P

I had dandelion wine once that my aunts made.  It wasn't too bad.

I will try some of that stuff in our yard. First I have to identify them. I love to experience different things.

We live with our son and he has a big dog that uses our yard as a waste depository, so I think I will pass on eating anything from there.
