Cringe Worthy Moments
« on: July 09, 2019, 08:49:06 pm »
A Cringe worthy moment is a moment where you cringe.

Today, I heard on the news that an 18 month old baby girl fell off the side of a cruise ship.  I guess grandpa was babysitting her and made a mistake.

How does anyone bounce back from that?

Have you experienced moments that make you cringe?
Have a great day!

I heard about that but then they changed the story a bit, later.  He had left the child in a child care area of the ship that had windows and somehow he/she fell out.  But, still, how do you live with that.  I was thinking about that earlier, today, after hearing it.  What an awful thing to have to live with.

I don't think he "left" her.  He was right there.  He said he thought there was a window there.

I don't know that they changed their story.  The news sources are out for blood and they talk to who ever and start reporting before they know what is going on.  Then they have to come back and change what THEY said because what THEY reported was not correct.

People are condemning the grandfather and the family because they immediately had a lawyer.  Well you ain't in the US.  This happened in PR and they are looking at charging the grandfather so of course he needs a lawyer.  Just like you would have one if you were in the situation here.  Not sure why that is even public knowledge.  Or why it is anybody's business.

It seems like it was just an accident.  He made a mistake.  It was a horrible mistake but just that.  It was an accident.  And all the others on the ship that are crying traumatized are just looking for attention.

People are too quick to judge and point fingers.  Sometimes bad things happen.  I wasn't there and I did not see what happened.  I don't know if I think he should be charged.  I am mostly thinking probably no.  I am not sure what is going to be harder to live with - the fact that basically it was his fault she died or reading all the comments online and listening to the things people will say to him and whisper about him.

From what I read he thought the window was closed and put her on the ledge so she could look out.  I honestly think it was an accident, a terrible terrible accident and one he will have to live with.  I read he had to be sedated he was so upset.

The only way Grandpa made a mistake was  believing the cruise line had good sense.  I read there were windows in the play area that should have been locked that weren't.  Oh he will get blamed by folks bless him and he will blame himself  but the cruise line is already trying to cover up their mistake.

Wow, I have not heard of this! That's insane!
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

Well something I read said there was no window there.  So basically we have no idea what happened and never will.  The story, as someone else said, has changed multiple times.

I am sure he was upset and he may even end up ending his own life because of this.  That happened locally.  A grandfather basically was the cause of his grandson's death.  Although it was an accident it was kind of the same.  He done something stupid and the kid died.  The grandfather died a few minutes later.  It would be a lot to live with.

There would be no getting over something like that.  Special prayers for the whole family.  Makes me hug my 2-year old grandson a little tighter.
Have a wonderful day!

I am not sure the cruise line made a mistake.  If the windows open then anybody could have opened the window.  The only person to blame is the grandfather who should not have stood the child up on the ledge.  I don't think he meant to hurt the kid at all.  But I would not set a child up on a ledge and let her bang on it even if it was solid thick glass.  Not that high up off the ground.

I have read the window was open (which if so he should have been able to see an open window) to there was no window there at all.  Nobody knows the truth because they have changed the story too many times.  SO now you can't believe anything.

I had not heard this story.  And it certainly did make me cringe.  Accidents such as this are so sad.  It breaks my heart learning of this loss.  I'll be praying for the family.  We're likely to hear more of this situation as an investigation is done on the safety of the cruise ship.

It said they MAY charge him.  Not that they are planning on charging him. Big difference.  The family would have been better off to wait at least til they got back to the US before lawyering up and filing charges against the cruise line.

I honestly think this was just an accident. I a sure the cruise line was within the guidelines. You can only do so much to keep stupid people safe.  So now all the cruise ships will have to install thick pane unopenable windows with loud alarms that go off and stop the ship in place if someone gets too close to it.

I think I have about changed my mind on this.  Now the grandfather says the girl ask him to lift her up so she could bang on the glass.  WHY would you let your child bang on a window?  The family is suppose to be heading home.

They have said they WILL be suing the cruise line because they were negligent.  smh  So this is all about money.
How much was that kid's life worth anyway?  If they let the grandfather leave the country they won't get him back to charge him.  The grandfather is stupid.  Like others said on yahoo they had contacted a lawyer before the child's body was picked up off the concrete 11 stories below.  Hopefully she passed out on the fall down and never even felt anything.
