Just what I get for trying to be bad
« on: July 04, 2019, 03:01:18 pm »
Ok I always celebrate my husband's birthday even though he is deceased.  It is just to honor him and keep him in remembrance.  His youngest sister, her husband and I went to our local and favorite chinese restaurant which he also loved.  I have been trying to stay off sweets due to my diabetes but on my way home I thought I would be bad and ride through Mcdonald's and get an ice cream cone and ofcourse the ice cream machine was down.  So I left well enough alone and went home.  Guess that is what I get for giving in to temptation.

We all give in to temptation sometimes.  We all need a treat occasionally.  In your case, you have an extra "motivation" to keep you on the straight and narrow.  Diabetes is a serious condition and I know I probably don't have to tell you!
Funny thing, about 3-4 days ago I went through the McDonald's drive-through only to be told they were out of ice cream!

I tried to get a vanilla shake from McDonald's the other day, and their machine was down.

i know it's hard not to give in to temptation and I know with diabetes you have to be careful.  Maybe that was a message from your husband?  you never know

I don't know what the deal is with that but it seems everyone every where says their ice cream machine is always down.  I rarely get ice cream but from what people say locally I have heard them complain about that as well.  Odd that is is happening every where all across the US.

I have heard of that happening before.  In fact my husband and I have experienced it ourselves.  This is going back a few years; we went inside the McD store and were trying the KIOSK.  After finally pressing the right buttons we went up to the counter only to find out the the ice cream machine was down.   >:(

It's been so long ago that I don't remember exactly what we did but I think we went a couple of blocks over to Wendy's and got a frosty.  ;)

Now just the other day we went to another McD to get a sundae and there were no problems at all.  I guess we were having a 'good ice cream day'.    :silly:

It seems that McDonald's ice cream machines are down more than they are working.  I love their caramel sundaes  and they are the perfect size but rarely am able to get them.

I never think of Mcdonald's for ice cream.  We have culvers and would probably think of going there.  I'm not huge on sugar, though, so really don't even think about ice cream much.  Now salt. . . . . .

I do enjoy a vanilla cone from Mcdonalds along with a coke.  There is something about em that makes me feel like I"m being incredibly indulgent.  I don't know if it's true or not but at one time I had heard McDonalds was switching there vanilla cones to frozen yogurt?  Granted just as much sugar can be added in there too... maybe that's why I do't feel as guilty when I eat a cone from there.  I may be tricking my brain.

Don't consider it being bad, just wanting to get something sweet and as long as you don't do it every day.
