Getting Older & Move Away?
« on: June 30, 2019, 10:25:04 am »
Almost 2 years ago, My aunt moved from Salinas, Calif to small town in Idaho. She was having dizzy spells. She went to hospital (small hospital) & they had to transfer to a bigger hospital, later pass it away. She had a passive blood clot. She was 80.

Why would any move to a small town with very little medical help with medical issues? If you have medical issue move to area that has a HUGE MEDICAL Hospital! Especially, if you are in late 70's - 90's!

A lot of retired folks move to where I live, but the hospital here is small and if you have anything serious they will send you to another hospital in Atlanta, which is 70 miles away. I agree, if you have a medical condition it's best to be close to a good hospital.

It does sound kind of odd that at 80 a person would decide to move across the country... hopefully there was family & friends there for her. Salinas California is a very nice location to live out your life... weird, indeed.

Personally I would not move to a place with limited anything but I guess she had her reasons.

Every one told me to move to a larger city where would you go. I sold my house and moved too.

I have had very bad experiences with big hospitals in major cities.  One of my worst experiences was in the socialist state of California.  Arizona almost killed me.  My local hospital took very good care of me.  I wouldn't blame the smaller hospital.
