I go to the dentist every 6 months for check up and cleanings. Brushing teeth every big meals and floss before going to bed. I always maintain my teeth very good, scared of toothache because when I was a child always eating candy and my teeth hurts so bad.  Lucky husband have a very nice healthcare, working in a federal company.

Check ups and routine cleanings are very important.

I have to admit I'm overdue for mine, but I plan to go in soon.

I think a quality toothbrush and routine flossing does a good job in between dental visits.  Do you guys think electric toothbrushes are better than manual?  Does the type of toothpaste we use really matter?

Do you brush at least twice per day, floss, and regularly go to your dentist for check-ups?  I am asking because I am angry that dentistry is not considered as part of our healthcare insurance as they are so important to our overall health.  Teeth and gums can become unhealthy, and once they are, it is so expensive to treat them!

Yes I brush twice daily and floss often.  I visit the dentist twice a year for my annual exam and semi-annual exam.  I've had great checkups for years.

I have dental insurance in addition to our healthcare plans.

I do the best that I can at home to take care of my teeth, including brushing and flossing.

My insurance only covers $1000 annually though, so it's hard to get anything done except for a cleaning. I had to have a root canal done not too long ago and it took up the $1000, so I couldn't afford a cleaning. It sucks that you have to pick and choose what you think is most important. I've also had to switch dentists because one shamed me for "not taking better care of my teeth" when I wouldn't go over my $1000 limit. I can't afford $800 out of pocket for something extra, so sometimes sacrifices have to be made. I don't think that's willfully not taking care of my teeth.

I have never been in the habit of brushing twice a day. Once before bed is my usual. You reminded me I need to make my appointment for a cleaning.

It is all genetics. It is in your genes.
Some people have really good teeth while                                                                                                                others don't, no matter what they do.
