If you ever get a call from a foreigner telling you your computer is expired and they need access to your computer, HANG UP! I fell for it years ago and my used laptop got infected with a virus.

Thank you for the info. Another scam going around is the electric company calls and saying if you do not give us a payment now, your service will be shut off within the hour.

That, fortunately, is one of the scams I knew about.  I still get lots of emails from various sources, one being Apple, telling me my account is locked and I need to click on the link to verify my information or my account will be permanently locked.  It's easy to tell the email scams because of the addresses.   It's so sad that people can be so greedy to rip others off.

Forward emails to abuse@??? whatever the scam is named - phones , hang up , computers , exit page or go to Task Manager and close the page.. hijacking web pages, very bad!!

I don't think anybody needs to actually be told this.

But then you said you fell for it.  THINK about it.  How could some random person know your computer has a problem and they know it and you don't.

I would ask what do you mean my computer is expired? That can't even happen.  The warranty can expire but they won't call you and tell you.

That won't work and there is no way to know what the scam is called.  If you feel the need to forward it then you need to forward it to who ever your email is through.  If it is yahoo them forward it to yahoo.

Best thing to do is use your head.  I know who I owe money to.  I know I have never owed money to the IRS.
I know they are not really going to send me a grants in the amounts of $10,000 and I know they know how to use proper grammar.

I know what contests I have entered.  I won one on once occasion and I knew I had entered the sweepstakes.

There are so many scams out there, that's why I don't respond to phone numbers I don't recognize or emails requiring me to click on links to  solve a  technical problem.

Just be smart and diligent.

I get from 15 to 20  scam calls each day.  I never answer calls like that.  Don't stress on spam or scam.  Not worth it.
