There are a lot of misconceptions about vaccines.  Vaccines have eliminated a lot of disease.  For example, measles have been eliminated for about 25 years until now. Measles can result in hospitalization, pneumonia and even death in rare cases.  Every hospitalization results in driving up healthcare costs.  I lived through the polio crisis.  I remember getting vaccinated regularly in school.  Many children were crippled, died, or ended up in iron lungs.  My older sister had some residual effects from what they call post-polio syndrome.

Vaccines are taken for the general public health and safety. If enough people get vaccinated, it results in what they call "herd immunity."  This helps protect people who are especially susceptible to disease, such as the old, the very young, those with weak immune systems, and the already ill. It is done to protect ourselves but especially to protect others so that it doesn't become rampant within the public at large.  That is called an epidemic and can lead to many public health issues.

I support vaccination.  I support quarantine among those who are too ignorant or selfish to vaccinate. If it gets much more out of control, I support regular fines for those who refuse.  Depending on the severity of an outbreak and the particular disease, I would support forced vaccination.  Your rights end at my being exposed to some of these virulent diseases. When individual choices endanger the general population, including those who are not at their healthiest, then the rights of the many supercede.

So they are only making each other sick.  If you are vaccinated you have nothing to worry about.

Not everyone can take the vaccine. Their decisions effect more than themselves.

When I went to University here in California, it was mandatory to be vaccinated to be admitted... which should be the rule if it is a public university or public school period.  I don't know where the break-down is occurring -- we live in a society & the protection of people in society should be the goal.   On the flip side, I have a nephew that has heavy metal damage caused by vaccines, with behaviors very similar to those on the autism spectrum plus more, so I know they are not as safe as they are made out to be.

   "To vaccinate or not vaccinate" -It is the question. So what is the answer? Will the vaccine really work or make it worse? I think it depends on the health of the patient. The final decision is a very personal one.

I guess the students and staff just get some vacation time.
There are so many pros and cons to vaccines I don't know what to think anymore. I had all of mine and so did my kids. I don't think I would go back and do it any differently if I had the chance. I guess everyone has their own choice.

You get the MMR vaccine when you are 12-15 months. You really don't know much about vaccines, do you?

Look at the mortality rate in young children before the vaccines became commonly available and you will be
pro vaccination. 
I know several doctors who will not see patients if the vaccinations are not given.  For the protection of all of the other patients.

Yes, it is long, but I got sll my shots and so did my kids.  I am not worry about it.
