Yup! Finished them just in time - had someone do them for me again, which was nice. I'm receiving a refund and had to pay only $200 to have them done, so not too bad.

I’m so glad this day doesn’t freak me out I have my taxes done by the beginning of February  every year ! I do them myself so I don’t have to worry and I usually have my tax refund back by 1 March this year it was the middle of March but that’s OK

I agree.  I can't do mine until in Feb because I do not usually have all my stuff.  Some places do not mail out paperwork until the last day of January.

One thing I do not understand is companies were mailing out some kind of proof of insurance form.  The one told me they did not have to have it mailed out until the end of Feb.  I told her that seems ridiculous since tax info has to be mailed out by the end of Jan and a lot of people have already filed by the time this paper arrives in mail boxes some time in March.

The deadline for employers to mail out for the 1095's is March 4. Certain investment income doesn't need to be mailed out until March 15, so some people have to wait to file.

Fortunately this day has come and gone. Unfortunately, this year in taxes did not do any favors to my bank account. Hopefully I can get a decent-sized cash out soon to soften the blow a little bit.

You do not need the health insurance 1095 to file your taxes.  I got 2 of these forms over a month after I had filed and got all the income tax stuff completely settled.

Never said that you did, just confirming that employers have until March 4 to send those out.

I always file my taxes right after receiving all of my necessary paperwork. I would not want to stress out waiting until the last minute. I also get my return much faster than those filing in April!

You said there are reasons people have to wait to file and used the health insurance form as one of the examples.  You do not need that to file so you would not need this to file your taxes.  You should know if you had health insurance or not.  It doesn't matter because there is not federal mandate saying you have to have it now.  The question is asked but it doesn't matter because you are not fined.

Because the longer you wait the more people are filing at the same time.

Ours was filed in  Feb.  We  do a lot of  figuring before time , So  didn't have to pay anything of course didn't
get anything back. But  we are retired and only work part time.

People are not understanding that no you may not have got a big check back but you got the money through out the year in the form of a bigger pay check. I would much rather do that.  I have a file that I keep all the info for tax or anything I could possible need for taxes or that is important for that year in that file. SO then it is easy to access. Everything is always all right there together.

I also have a running tab on what I am earning on any PTC sites so I know what is going on there also.

I have heard people complain about it being a nightmare to get the tax info straight with these sites.  I have only had to do that one time and it was extremely simple.  I went to the IRS site and downloaded the form and printed it out and mailed it to them certified mail so I knew when they received it.  And all was well.  No issues at all.

Getting a big refund is nice but I would rather break even.

There are some sites like this that if you earn one penny you have to turn it in.  I was signing up for one and to complete the sign up process you have to provide your SS number and are treated like a contract employee and are sent a 1099 at the end of the year.  I have a friend who works with them.  He didn't think anything about this.  I ended up not doing it because I did not anticipate earning over $600.  I even talked to them on the phone and they said if you earn ANY money from them they turn it in to the IRS.

I would not be surprised if that doesn't end up being how it is with all of these sites before it is over with.  Some people will still do them but I figure a lot would quit.
