I would not worry about it. At least in Oregon, if they are of age they pay any ticket issued to them for seat belt violations.

I would let them know that wearing a seatbelt is the rule in my car because I feel responsible for the safety of people riding in my car.  I would let them know it's that simple, either abide by my rules or you don't ride.  Sorry!

I would tell them that either I was going to stop the car so they could get out or they can't put the belt on and leave it on, either one - it's their choice.

But if they are in MY car and I say you have to wear a seat belt they need to either wear a seat belt or not ask me for a ride.  If we are in an accident "I" am responsible to paying for their injuries.

Here it they are over 16 they get the ticket. It is just the fact that I asked this person repeatedly to put her seat belt on and she would just take it off.

We are not talking about smoking.  Wearing a seat belt is the topic.  As for smoking - NO.  Nobody is smoking in my car at all.

They would have to get out because here the driver is held responsible.  Anyone riding with me have to follow my rules and the laws of the land.

lol.  Believe me she won't be in my car again.  I was upset about several things but refusing to keep a seat belt on is too much.  I told her if a cop sees her without a belt on they will pull me over.  She seemed to think that was funny.  She would have been cited not me but it is just the principle of the thing.
