Walmart Savings Catcher
« on: March 18, 2019, 11:49:11 am »
Dear Customer,

Here at Walmart, we've always been committed to providing you with low prices every day, so you and your family can save money and live better. Savings Catcher, which compares nationally advertised prices through submitted receipts, was designed to catch occasions when a competitor’s price on a particular item was found to be lower than what you paid for it at Walmart.

What we've learned through Savings Catcher is that our efforts to lower prices upfront on thousands of items across our stores is working. Walmart's prices win most often when you submit your receipts, which tells us that the program's intent has been met.

That's why we have decided to discontinue the Savings Catcher receipt submission, effective May 14, 2019. After May 14, you will no longer be able to submit your Walmart Pay eReceipts to Savings Catcher. But don’t worry, the money you have on your Savings Catcher eGift Card will remain yours to spend until you're ready to use it.

We want to thank you for your loyalty and your participation in the program. We'll continue to work hard to offer you features and services that deliver on our promise to save you time and money—whether you're shopping in our stores or online at Walmart.com.

Their explanation for ending the program is total B.S., but it was nice while it lasted.

lol Yeah whatever.  They actually stopped it in my area a long time ago.  We didn't even have the option to use it with the Walmart Pay.

They stopped doing it because it was costing them money.  I got cash back on almost every purchase I made so clearly they were not winning.  They do not even do the ad match any more.

That is fine with me that they end it. I never earned much from them anyway. They probably got tired of giving away money.

Never knew about it, so I won't miss it.... too bad because it seemed like an easy way to save money.   Seems Walmart is going down hill, every time I go there, it seems that a lot of their shelves aren't stocked & products that I need -- like certain flavored cat food -- aren't there.

Not a problem for me.  Every time I tried to use the savings catcher I didn't get anything anyway.  I use other programs to get cash back.

They are not going down hill.  The shelves are not as well stocked because they are wanting to move more to online orders.  Walmart is still at the top of the list.  If things work out the way I want them to I am going to start ordering more online. But not necessarily from them but Amazon.

We used it a lot and got a lot back, not every time but enough that it saved us money.   I'm going to miss it.

I used the program when you could still scan in the receipt.  I was sad to see it go to e-receipt where you had to use the Walmart pay app to continue.  I used to build up the savings and then buy something for myself.  Oh well it was nice while it lasted.
