How has the recession affected you?
« on: October 07, 2009, 10:21:34 am »
I don't know about all of you but the recession has really been hard on us. Lost my job 18 months ago, can't find another due to age and illness, not to mention that there are just none out there, To put to plainly, I'm so broke I can't pay attention!!! OH well, --  it happens

You are certainly not alone. There are millions in your situation. Just keep doing what you are doing, things are bound to turn around eventually.

I am unable to work due to 2 surgeries and panic/anxiety disorders. I go tomorrow to see the state's doctor, who will then determine if I qualify for any disability. Right now, my cash income is $123 mo general assistance and whatever I can earn here on FC. At least that's better than some people. I also get EBT, which helps.

Recession has also hit me hard.  Sometimes I get so stressed that it has caused me to have anxiety/panic attacks, which is not good.  I have been out of work for quite sometime and have submitted numerous applications and resumes with no positive results.  Its just plain scary.

I continue to pray that things will get better for me.

To be honest it really hasn't affected me that much.  I still have a job which I thank God every single day to have.  I am trying to spend less money but that's because I am trying to pay down debt which I would have done anyway because I'm trying to be debt free as soon as possible.

I'm trying to spend a lot less, and earn more online with places like FC and similar sites. I'm also trying to get a second job, because I'm just not pulling in enough right now--and I'm a grad student and teaching assistant, so I'm already busy.

It's making me rich! There are more potential referrals online every day than there ever have been in history of the Internet.

The hours in my teaching job have been cut 8%, but I am still doing just as much work as ever outside of class. Also, my brother has been laid off since last March, so I need to send him some money (thanks for the reminder).

i left my job a year ago to return to school. kicking myself now! ran out of money, can't go to school this semester and can't find a job. i average 5 applications/resume submits per day. i have applied for everything... there are just so many applicants for a single position.

Cant get as much hours as i want at my job due to "setbacks" and cuts and lack of getting the check on time , what perfect timing for my generation graduating from college and being brought into a recession
