I normally go every year to the optometrist for my general annual checkup.  I have not gotten new lenses for my glasses for a number of years since my prescription has changed just slightly.

However, in December 2018, I noticed a lot of blurriness in my left eye one morning.  At first i just thought I would make my annual appointment for early January 2019.  But the blurriness didn't go away and I could "see" light through my closed eyes even with my hand covering my closed eyes.

I called "ASK A NURSE" and described what I was experiencing.  I was advised to visit my Medical doctor so that he could refer me on in order for insurance to cover what ever doctors, etc, I might need to see.

Long story short:  My medical doctor sent me to an optometrist who took pictures of my eyes/retinas.  I have CRVO which is Central Retina Vein Occlusion---the vein in the retina has a slight blockage---so there is some slight hemorrhaging (bleeding) in the retina.

I was referred on to the Ophthalmologist.   I have an one shot in the retina so far and am scheduled for another shot next week.

I went to the eye Dr just a few days ago. It's really important to go. The only thing I dread is the dilation of the eyes and the numbing eye drops.

I have not had my Eyes checked in a few years now. I have Insurance, but just not enough time. I need to go though, because I have Glasses and they are hard to see through now. I guess my Eye Sight has got worse.

I have to admit I don't go as often as I should.  It's just so expensive even with insurance.

You do not have to let them dilate your eyes.  Although I do not see why people complain about it.  They did not numb my eyes to dilate them.  It doesn't hurt.  And the last time I went they dilated both eyes and I went out after the appointment and drove home.  Not a big deal.

I thought if you had insurance it paid for an eye exam and would also pay for regular lens glasses if you needed them.  And if you want bi-focals or something like that you had to pay the difference.  I wouldn't know.  I have never had the insurance.

I have once a year check for my doctor and have an insurance. I wear eye glasses and contracts with prescription.

My insurance covers eye doc's now, so I could go when I need. Eye doc's was a separate bill/insurance for me but not anymore. My kids wore glasses since the 1st grade.

It has been so long since I have been. I cannot even remember the last time I got my eyes check. I need to make it a priority to do that this year.

I tried to make it every 2 years if I can juggle it that way instead of once a year as it is so expensive.  Insurance doesn't cover except for children (don't have children and it's a single policy but they are covered ...grrrr!).  I wear contact so I have to get a new prescription,  if I can play things right I can refill before a 2nd time before it expires and get a second year.  It is ridiculous that  they charge a contact lens fitting fee,  when you have been wear the same lens for years

I go every year since I wear contacts and they will not refill after a year. It was easier when I had health insurance as it was not that expensive but have going to American Best and they really have good prices.
