I saw the video and she really started going after him. They said she was a small girl too.  I wish all the male staff would have hurriedly defended her.  From what I have heard the guy was homeless.  I don't know and it's really no excuse, but oftentimes there are drug and mental health issues among the homeless.  The problem is you never know when people might have a knife or gun! Am I right that this happened because the guy wanted a straw?

Why should only the male staff have defended her.... in this day & age of gender equality it is quite sexist to specify only one gender should defend the girl.  With all the hatred for the patriarchy & the negativity towards males going on these days, let the women staff come to her rescue... though she took care of the situation herself.

I havent seen it but from what you described she should have hit him. is this  a commercial?  I think customers for the most part are considerate every now and then you get one that makes you wonder why in the heck do I put myself through this.

No it is not a commercial.  It is real.  It is a news story that is all over the internet, twitter, and I am sure facebook as well.

I have never heard he was homeless. 

Yes, he was upset because they establishment per owner/management rules removed the straws from the drink center and if you want one you have to ask for it.  I will agree that is stupid because it is Mc freakin Donald's where you get a cup with a lid and you obviously need a straw and having to go stand in line a second time to get a straw is foolish.  But anyway that is not the person at the counter's fault.  They tried to explain that to him and that from what I understood is when he grabbed her.  You grab me and I will defend myself however I can up to and including busting a hot coffee pot in your face.  Keep your hands off me.

For the 10 years or so of working in the food  and  bar business.  I was very lucky and only had one man put his hands on me, and I told him not to  touch me several times. But he  just  kept it up. then one  day while he was sitting around the table with several men he pinched me on the butt as I  leaned over to put  glasses of water  down for them. Well the devil made me do this. I on purpose spilled his glass on him and as he  stood up I cold cocked him and he landed on the floor. Of course he  got up and told me he would have my  job and he was gong to sue me. But  a couple of the other men said no. The were the  district Attorney and the assestent . But yes he got me  fired.  Now  that wouldn't happen.  But  he was playing around with owners wife.  Oh well I went  right  down the street and got a better job. Oh yeah the  guy was a  lawyer.

That is not right. You should not lose your job because you defend yourself.  You are not low down trash that deserves to be harassed because you work in food or retail.  I have done both in the past and have been treated like a 2nd class citizen and like I was worthless because of where I worked.  And this even from people who were drawing welfare and were def lower than me. lol

She is a boxer. lol She didn't need their help.  I don't care about political correctness these days.  If I am in danger if there is a man around he should defend me if needed.  I can see why they don't though.  I was in Walmart a few years ago and some jerk was harassing me and some dude I have never seen before comes up and starts talking to me and acts like he has known me for years.  The creepy dude finally walks off.  They guy who came to my rescue was just trying to get creepy guy to leave me alone and it worked.

But like others have stated people are crazy and you never know what they will do.  This guy could have pulled a gun and shot everyone around.  I would like to have heard the whole conversation.  There are two sides to everything and we do basically only have her side.  What we see it looks like it is all his fault.  But we do not know what was said or whatever before the video starts.  Either way he had no right to grab her no matter what was said.

The really sad thing is this country is worried about flippin straws.  smh.  You are worried about a plastic straw but are not concerned with the cups, plastic silverware, or foam containers the gravy biscuits or big sandwiches come in.

But hey, you can't fix stupid.

        I haven't seen this video, but as the story has been wrote, I would think that the lady had the right to do as she did. I wouldn't think any manager would think that the man is right for this; if they did, I would think this would be a sad place to work.

You need to watch the video.  It is funny.  She really wails on him.  I figure if someone reaches across the counter and grabs your shirt you have been physically threatened and have the right to defend yourself however you can.

You would be surprised at which stance the managers will take.  The manager/owners of establishments want to make money.  Which ever way you go people will scream boycott.  Someone on Twitter was saying if she got in trouble we should all boycott McDonald's.  I am not going to do that.

I would like the know the whole story.  There has to be more to this than he was upset because there were no straws at the drink station - which is completely retarded.  Surely McDonald's doesn't think you can have the cups and lids with a straw hole in them and no straw and people be okay with it.  Then you have to go back and stand in line to get a straw for your cup.

A friend of mine went to a Burger King recently and noticed the a big breakfast thing on their menu.  She thought it sounded good and was going to try it.  The manager said to her, Do you see how many calories are in that?  If you eat that, you can't eat anything else today!  I couldn't believe it.  He's supposed to just be selling the stuff not telling people what they can and can't eat!  I told her I would have ordered a second one, sat there and eaten them both in front of him and taken another one home with me!

I would have reported that to corporate.  I am curious as to if your friend is over weight. Because if they are that is another strike against the restaurant.  I would have told them I recon I can eat anything I want whenever I want.  That would have really ticked me off.

Then you have not read too many comments.  There are a lot of people who are siding with him.  I have seen people say that she had no right to hit him, and it is customer service and blah blah blah.  I hold the restaurant responsible probably the most because they are just provoking people by taking the straws away from the drink station. It is BURGER KING.  You have a paper cup with a plastic lid with a hole in it for a straw.  PUT STRAWS OUT.  It is ridiculous to make customers go back and stand in line a second time to get a straw.

I think it is really funny how people are so bent out of shape over straws but have no issue with the paper cup which is not biodegradable and the plastic lids for the cups, and the Styrofoam containers the biscuits and gravy come in....  And on and on.

He had no right to touch her and if it were me I would have hit him with the closest object available as long as he had his hands on me.  But the owner/manager whoever made the decision to do something they KNEW would upset customers needs to own some of the responsibility here.  And also for standing by and doing nothing.  Did it not say another customer called 911?
