Do you hate your job?
« on: December 04, 2018, 09:40:34 am »
I hate mine, but know I can't get paid any better anywhere else. So I'm basically stuck here until I retire, and I'm 32 years old. Anyone hear of the FIRE movement? Financial independence, retire early. It makes so much sense to me, but my salary isn't enough to give me much wiggle room for financial independence. I'll probably be working into my late 60's.

I am fifty five and plan on working at the same rate (hopefully) till I am in my seventies. I want to be able to keep my family financially secure for the rest of their lives. My parents are still alive and kicking and have told me, incessantly, that I will be an heir to their considerable estate. I told them to by pass me, put it in a trust for the kids and live a long, happy, and healthy life. Work keeps your mind active, keeps you productively busy, and keeps you out of trouble. I do not hate my job but that is probably because I work two full time jobs. I was self employed for thirty years and I enjoy the pressure of business ownership being in the hands of others. I shake my head at some of the corporate bureaucracy and am amazed at some of the tremendous waste but it isn't my money. I work with a highly competent staff which also makes things easier.

I do not hate my job.  I actually find it quite rewarding.  Of course there are parts of the job (working in general) that I don't care for.  The biggest hardship is our schedule.  I get a new work schedule every two weeks and I work every other weekend.

I am now retired from a job I worked at for over 20 years.  I didn't hate it.  There were many times I was aggravated and disappointed but I never hated it.

You aren't stuck there. You have the choice to quit and find something else. From what you have previously said about your job you surely can find something else doing close to the same thing. Except you have also said a lot to indicate you have a lot of sitting around playing on the computer and getting paid and you won't find that many places.

When I did work I liked my job, it was my supervisor and her supervisor that got on my last damn nerve.

I don't hate it but I don't love it either.  Mostly I don't love the pay.

You have severe medical problems and nobody would hire you and then you get hired as security? That doesn't make sense. Most security jobs you have t be able t patrol areas and confront people if needed.

I don't "hate" my job, but I certainly don't look forward to coming in every day. It is a means to an end, although I don't see my myself retiring at a reasonable age.

A bad supervisor can make a job miserable. My former manager was so incredibly nasty to me, always getting after me for texting and embarrassing me in front of my staff. I'm so glad she's gone. She was fired, and frankly, it was karma.

Most companies have a no cell phone policy. You are being paid to work not play on your phone.
