Roku
« on: November 30, 2018, 06:16:44 pm »
I finally purchased a Roku today and I don't know why I waited so long. The set up was easy and I am able to watch Netflix and more. Now I don't know if I want to replace my smart tv.

I love my Roku sticks. I use my Roku on my smart tv. I don't even use the smart tv apps anymore.

I am by no means technologically savvy, and I have no idea what a Roku is! I've heard the name but no nothing more. I'm too content with my small, vintage television and my laptop, haha.

I used to use ROKU on my analog TVs, they worked great at the time.  I've moved on to Amazon Fire Sticks, but ROKU served me & my family well for many years, zero complaints.

I have never used a streaming stick but am seriously thinking of getting rid of my cable TV once my contract ends in May.  I have heard good things about Roku, Amazon Fire, and Netflix.  If I decide to drop cable, I will probably pick 2 out of these 3.

We have Amazon Fire stick, but since it wasn't working for a while, we haven't had it turned back on yet, change is looking strange, so maybe one day we will have it working again.

I'm buying a used roku from a friend for $15. I don't even have a t.v. to connect it to yet.  LOL.  But I figured for $15 dollars that's a deal.  So since I don't have a t.v. I wonder what kind I should be looking at?

Sorry, but you would need cable or an antenna for them. However, you can watch episodes of the shows they run after the fact. For example I really enjoy watching Blue Bloods, so In can watch the current shows on Cable (in real time) or previous episodes on Netflix (with no commercials).

You just need to make sure the TV you get has an HDMI Port available.

I have been using firesticks for almost 2 years and have never had a problem with them. The only  issue I have is when wifi goes down for a brief time for technical problems. Other than that , I enjoy the digital apps :). I never had a roku but I kinda figure it is similiar

Never had one but have thought about it and didn't know much about them.  However, after reading the comments I think I will seriously look into it.  Friends have mentioned that they used Roku so think this will the first one I research.
