I don't normally receive baked goods as gifts, but if I did, of course I would eat it! Unless it is something I really don't like, and then I would bring it to the office and my coworkers would eat it for sure.

As long as it is good.  I have a friend who makes the best sugar cookies,  look forward to them every year!

Depending on what it is, I love homemade goods.

I eat just about anything but sauteed calves liver and beets prepared in any manner. I have a particular fondness for candy, popsicles and/or anything with sour cream on it. Baked goods, although not my favorite (except cookies) disappear quickly if they are within a mile of me. I show more control when I am at restaurants and generally do not order dessert (but have no problem sampling the dessert ordered by others). The ten second rule is too short-I have no problem with a one minute rule as long as the floor, or ground appears to be clean. I am about seventeen pounds over weight and that is with my exercising four to five times per week. I have no problem losing weight when it is important to me but I have been totally wrapped up in working for several years.

Most of the baked goods i receive as gifts are yummy! So i will at least eat part of it.I shouldn't eat a lot of sweets or baked goods so most of the time i share them with my friends. :pumpkin: :rainbow: :peace:
Be grateful for what you have and you will receive more than you ever expected

If you believe it you can achieve it.

I'm never given food items as gifts, but I would eat it. The only thing is, I'm vegan, and sometimes people don't understand what all I don't include in my diet, haha. My granny has sent me chocolate bars and things for the holidays, and it makes me feel too guilty to not eat them.  :-[ :-X

I usually eat it if I know the person who made the dish/gift.   I never even thought about the cleanliness aspect, thinking everyone would be like me & be OCD clean.... but now I will think twice for sure.  I know & read about a lot of different cultures that don't wash their hands, & just people dirty in general -- I read the other day that the order pads at McDonalds are filled with feces, detected by swab analysis, can't even be safe using key pads.
Imagine how unclean ATM pads are & when you pay by debt card & have to put in your pin & answer question at payment.... sick.  I need to start bringing & using hand santitizer after transactions.

Yes, as long as it's free.

I'm usually pretty liberal about what I eat if it looks good.  And to me, most sweets look good.  However, if I've noticed something about a person that doesn't seem hygienic or something they've said in the past about their home, it can change things.
For example, recently someone had brought a nice cake to an event and had cut it into pieces, but I noticed that the husband had dirty nails and he had cut the cake.  I just couldn't bring myself to have a piece.  Also, years ago, I was told a woman had 3 or 4 cats and several dogs who had the run of the house and I couldn't eat anything she brought to some bake sales.  Someone had told me you could also smell animals when you entered her home.  That did it!

Like you it depends on how well I know the person.

Depends on the person and how well I know them.  We usually cater in at work for Christmas and I am the only one in the family that bakes at the holidays.  I always give 2 of my neighbors cookies and I think they eat them because they look forward to each year.

Most of the time I do, it depends on where they come from.

No, I do not.  I do not eat food baked or cooked by others to include some of my relatives.  People are not all that clean especially when they have pets.  Some People are just nasty.

Usually not, unless it's something I really like. I can be a picky eater so if someone got me, i.e., banana bread, I'd appreciate the thought but don't see myself actually eating it.

Yes because I know the friends who gave them.  I am wondering this year though if there might be something other than food I can give.  So many people are on special diets.  Any ideas???
