Which is easier to get approved for? Social Security for mental disabilities or physical disabilities Most say mental is hard to get. Anyone agree?

A friend of mine got on SSDI  for aspergers syndrome and seem to get on it awfully easily.  Another friend was born with a physical nerve disability and it took her along time to get on it.  She even had to go to a hearing.  And he gets more money then her {even though he's younger and hasn't worked much}  ::)

Are you trying to get disability?  If you are asking the question then obviously you do not have a real disability.

A crazy check is easier to get.  If you apply for disability and they talk to you and do not feel your physical ailments is enough they will send you to talk to a head doctor.  There are even classes you can take to teach you how to answer the questions.

Beware though because when you start getting a crazy check you have to have a POA and you can no longer be in charge of your own finances or decisions.

People who are really disabled have a hard time getting it.  People who claim mental can get it pretty easy. Funny people who are drawing disability can do anything and everything they want to.  The only thing they cannot do is WORK!

I think mental is harder to get too, but my Sister applied under a Mental situation and got it pretty easily. She had to appeal of course, but everyone even a Physical illnes almost always is denied the first time,

Don't know, but there are people out there who can help with all disabilities.

It is just hard to get disability on any terms, but you must keep trying.

Most of the people I know who've tried to get Social Security disability have had to resort to an attorney to get the ball rolling.

Dealing with our government is never a fun or an easy thing to do.

What is so sad  is to see these able bodied people getting on SSI, when all they are doing  is acting. While those who really need it have a very hard time  getting the help they need.  I had to go  get my drivers lic. after driving on the same name for 60 years.  Anyway back to the SSI.  I watched 2  men  and 1 women come in to get help to sign up for SSi and  not one of them was handicapped at  all nor were they mentally ill. The one man  went out after being  helped on his crutches barely able to walk. Get to his pickup throw the crutches into the back and drive off like nothing ever happened. the other 2  got outside out of sight and  really did a jig because they got approved.  Those I call leeches . But it is a same that the ones in need  can't  get help. Not one of the 3 were white.

unfortunately that is so much abuse in the system that those who deserve and should qualify don't get it. While  those who do qualify and receive it don't need it.  :rainbow: :rose:

This doesn't make sense. You don't go in to an office and just sign up for Disability.  You have to mail the forms in. And it is a long process.  They will send you letters back and you have to see their doctors.  Then that has to be sent back to them.    Not a walk in an office and they make a decision there.  And you cannot tell by looking at someone if they have medical problems or not.

I am not sure what you think you saw but you are wrong.  You do not just walk in an office and get approved for Disability.  It can take 2-3 years to get approved.  The crazy checks are the easiest to get and the fastest. That is why they push that.

You are correct in saying that people who really need it have a harder time getting it.  But it should not be a life long thing.  I know a ton of people who are drawing disability and they can do whatever they want to.  They just don't work.  If you can tromp thru the woods to go hunting then you can walk to go to a job.

I met a woman once who was getting a crazy check.  She said well "what if it is time to go to work and I am sad".  WELL suck it up buttercup.  Do like the rest of us do.  It is called life.  Deal with it and go on.
