Paleo Diet
« on: September 02, 2018, 10:56:42 am »
Hmmmn my son wants us to go on the Paleo diet otherwise sometimes known as the caveman lol or cavewoman diet.  I don't know a lot about it just researching now - do any of you know of this type of eating?

It depends of you and how healthy you are.I suggest to ask a dr before to start any diet.

Yes, I agree with gaby_ro. One of my co-workers and his wife is currently on the keto diet. They did extensive research and consulted with their doctors prior to engaging in the program. I highly suggest you do the same. Otherwise, you may run the risk of doing more harm than good to your health.

Agreed with the others you cannot be to careful and you want to make sure you body gets everything you need.  My daughter is a dietitian and sees may people that eat the wrong stuff for their medical conditions.

I have heard of it, but know nothing about it. Seems like these types of diets can work but also seems like you deprive your body of other things it needs

I just watch my intake to keep the carbs and calories low, but splurge with a little ice cream if I do well. My A1C is under 6 and my weight stays about the same, so that's good enough for me.

I was on the keto diet but it was costing me allot,  diets can run allot  of money and being on SS for a back injury isn't a whole lot of cash for diet food.

I agree with the others that said check with your Dr before starting any diet.  There are some benefits being on the Paleo Diet.  Increased energy, more antioxidant-rich foods, less inflammation, more muscle, improved brain health and lower cholesterol levels.  Good luck to you and your son if you do try the diet!

It takes some time and discipline (and physical capability), but I have dropped just over ten pounds since late July just by daily walking and limiting the junk food and desserts. I'm walking about 4 or 5 miles a day - most of that spread out over the morning and evening hours. Sometimes it is more than that and sometimes it is less.

I wasn't a big soda drinker to begin with, but I also cut out a lot of sugar in my food choices and drink water for every meal and throughout the day. My goal is to get back to my swimsuit body  ;) by next summer.

I don't know to much about this diet.  I have tried a lot of diets but not this one, the no carb diet is the one for me.

Yes, I'm a health coach and this way of eating is the norm of how we ate when we first walked the planet. It's clean eating and you can lose weight if you follow it and add daily exercise in your routine. Go for it and tell us how it goes. :)

I would certainly do a lot of research to make sure that you are still getting all the nutrients that your body needs before changing your diet. A diet does no good if your body isn't getting what it needs to function properly.

I eat a lot of fresh veggies from the garden.

I grow sprouts inside, and try to watch most of my diet.

I do ice cream also. I give myself a treat and don't fret it.

I try to exercise every day, as I go, Time to go for a walk now :)
