Ever made guests remove shoes before entering your home?
« on: August 29, 2018, 09:04:12 pm »
I know understand why people make their guest and family members remove their shoes before coming into their home. When you think about it,  if you have carpet, every germ, gum, or anything nasty is captured on the bottom of your shoes and when you walk around, you are spreading the germs. I've never done this but have seen others do it and have decided after getting new carpet that this is necessary for a sanitary home. What do you think? I want to hear your thoughts. :)

I have never made any one take their shoes off when in my home but I do understand why some do as well. When I was growing up my grandma would always have people take their shoes off when entering.

You shouldn't have to ask guests to remove their shoes! That's rude to go tromping through someone's house with shoes on.

I usually take off my shoes when going to another persons house but I usually don’t request people take off their shoes when they come into my house.

Your comment makes NO sense.  I KNOW UNDERDSTAND???

First off, there are germs every where.  On people's feet and socks as well.  If I went to visit somebody and they told me to take my shoes off when I entered their home I would likely decline to enter and leave.

lol. No it isn't.  If a person had 3 inches of mud on their shoes then yes it would be rude to track red clay mud all over someone's home. But just in general no it is not rude to walk in to a house and not take your shoes off.  I don't take my shoes off when I come in to my house and I would not tell people to take their shoes off when they come to visit.

I am not like the 3 year olds that any where they go as soon as they get their they yank their shoes and socks off and throw them in the floor like it is their personal bed room.

That's true, It depends on the situation, if you have pet. The pet won't wear shoes when going out or they take off shoe when going in. The carpet need to vacuum very often that's for sure.  :)

I would think that a "guest(s)" would be staying in the more public areas of the house, it would be fairly easy to clean/disinfect those traffic areas.  Have a mat inside (and outside the door) for guests to wipe their feet.

Yes, we ask that people that come into our home remove their shoes. What's the big deal? My house, my rules. We have a mat by the door where you can leave them. I don't want stuff from outside tracked into my house and on my carpet.

No never!  Maybe because I don't go walking bare feet and I don't have white carpet.

The big deal is some people may not want to take off their shoes.  You are correct it is your house but don't get upset when people refuse to visit you because they do not wish to take off their shoes.  I think I recall one time someone telling me to take off my shoes before I came in their house. I declined and left.

Never, I don't come from a shoe-removing family in fact, when we have had guests do so automatically we are a little taken aback to have people walking barefoot around our house like they owned the place, then again I happen to find feet disgusting
