Yes I rarely buy generic.  In fact only purchase generic prescription medications for the most part.  I do primarily purchase name brand foods and other products.

I agree you can't replace certain name brands, but other things are fine generic.

I am ok to buy generic or store brand milk, butter, brown sugar, sugar, flour, dry pasta noodles, some cereals, breads, buns and frozen vegetables.
I like name brand soda, peanut butter, ketchup, mayonnaise, shredded cheese.  Most chips are better name brand.

I will get some generics depending on the product but I will mostly buy brand names just because I know what to expect from them.

We buy both. Some of Target's store brand stuff is just as good, if not better, than name brand. Plus it's usually on sale with Cartwheel, and with Red Card another 5% off.

When generic foods first came out, they were pretty tasteless, and not worth buying to save 25 cents.

Some are better now. However, if it is food, I generally get the brand.

OTC I often get generic.

This is pretty accurate.  I did just try a store brand pasta sauce the other day that was really good (I was very surprised).  I also tried their kosher dill pickles and again another pleasant surprise. I had tried their ranch dressing once, that was so horrible but luckily they have a great satisfaction guarantee on the store brand products!!!

I notice pasta sauce is the toughest to get the store brand. Never tastes as good as name brands. But as I said for the most part, generic is as good.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!
