I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  We get so close to our furry friends that they become a part of the family.  It has been three years since our Tommy passed away.  I still miss him terribly to this day.  He was so much comfort and joy for our empty house!
Have a wonderful day!

I am so sorry for your loss.  I feel your pain ... I have lost many animals, dogs and cats and it breaks my heart every time.  My animals are my furry kids.

Aw, so sorry. It hurts a lot. We lost our black Lab, Abbym 7 years ago from acute renal failure. She was 7.  Before that, we had Hobie who developed  cancer in his front right leg/shoulder and the vet wouldn't just amputate, said there was no hope. He was 10. I also lost Patches, our cat, almost at the same time through a tumor. Vet said no surgery would help. I still cry over all of them.

So now I have feral cats and try not to get too close. My avatar is the one we house trained but she got so sick, she turned nasty and attacked us. i opened the door and she left never to be seen again. I have 4 ferals now, 3 that are friendly and 1 who never comes close which is okay with me. If they would leave and find someplace else to live, I'd be fine with it. It wouldn't hurt as much but there won't be any more close pets for us.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Twelve years is a long time. We had a Golden Retriever, Misha Marie, that passed eight years ago and not a day goes by without a thought or memory of her crossing our minds. We lasted two weeks before we got another Golden Retriever and ended up getting another one a year later. The two new Goldens (Chevalier and Chantelle) are a source of constant and enjoyment and entertainment. I volunteer to walk dogs for a few hours a week at a no-kill facility. Perhaps volunteering at a dog shelter might help you overcome your loss quicker. Bravo for giving your dog a king/queen's feast before he/she moved on! I'm sure that your dog knew how much you lover her/him and your feast probably helped ease the transition to heaven. I hope that your recovery is fast.

So sorry for your loss. I hope you can find another dog in time who is worthy of your love. I'm a cat person -- I have 3! -- and they provide so much joy to my life. Even just giving them their morning meal is a highlight of my day.

I know that pets hold a very special place in our family and our hearts much of the time.  I would have done the exact same thing as you if I knew my pet had few days left on earth.  i would have spoiled him as much as I could.  I'm sure everything you did was with love.  Good for you!

I feel your loss believe me I had to have my little eight pound shih tzu put to sleep a few months ago.  Her name was baby and she truly was like my baby.  She stuck to me like glue and waited by the front door for me if I had to go out without her.  I miss her terribly.  Well I am truly sorry for the loss of your dog.  :(

I had to say goodbye yesterday to my 12-1/2 year old dog. He took a turn for the worse over the weekend and didn't have the strength (or will?) to recover. He could no longer sit or stand but still had his appetite. So I spent his last two days spoiling him with hot dogs and eggs and cheese and chocolate chip cookies and ice cream and pepperoni pizza and cheeseburgers.

He was a big boy - 125 pounds - and took a big piece of my heart with him. We did our best to give him a good long life. I hope he was happy.

   :dog:

Not being mean but the food you fed him is enough to kill him.  I had to let mine go a week ago. I have learned so much over the past few weeks. You should never feed your dog table scraps. I do not plan to ever have another dog but if I do I will never let him/her eat table scraps. It causes pancreatitis and other serious problems. :(

I didn't feed him all that food on a regular basis. It was his last day with us. I wanted to spoil him before the vet arrived. Not really concerned with pancreatitis at that point.  ::)

A lot of people do not know how dangerous it is to feed table scraps to pets.  I still wouldn't have given him stuff that could make him have a stomach ache but it was your choice and if he wanted to eat it then okay.  I don't think mine would have ate chocolate.  I know a woman who gave her dog half a bag of Hershey kisses and the dog died the next day.  She apparently didn't know not to give the dog chocolate.

 :glasses-nerdy: :silly: Sad  :( for your loss of a loved pet. I know the feeling of losing a loved pet. The pet/pets would be missed a bunch. No other pet could be the same as the one/ones lost.  :glasses-nerdy: :silly:
