I had two encounters of the rude kind.  One at Burger King and one at Popeyes.

I can say that this does not happen to me very often.  I always try to be polite and friendly to all cashier's as I deal with the public as well so I know how the customers can be.

If I do get a rude cashier, I just chalk it to the he/she is having a bad day which can happen to anyone.

The first one at BK, I figured was having a bad day.  She was yelling at me, but I wasn't alone.  She stuck her head out the window and yelled at the person in the car behind me too.  I decided it was because they were short staffed and she couldn't deal with the pressure.  She was order taker, cashier, and served the food.  Jumped from one window to the next and to the next.  Actually, it was kind of comical in a way but  I never had a cashier yell at me before.

It's one thing to be short staffed or to have a bad day but that is never an excuse to be rude to a customer.   :bad:

When I was a kid and worked the fast food joints, we always treated each and every customer with dignity and respect.  Anything else would spell trouble for the employee.   :o

Times have certainly changed.

I have never encountered any rude ones. But what I have encountered is some that are not so friendly. Even if I was friendly to them they were not with me.

I have experienced rude cashiers at drive through restaurants and not only that, but sometimes they forget something in my order.

I don't experience it very often. When I do I just shrug it off.

Not in a long time.

I do get a lot of bored cashiers....obviously bored with the job, say as little as possible to the customer.

Had a couple younger ones who hated working at the grocery store, and literally roll their eyes.

No response to a smile.

I think since so many moms work these days, and the kids live in their phones a lot, common courtesy is a lost art (or at least rapidly declining.  Just look at how the protestors any more are arrogant, defiant, and sometimes intimidating/insulting/and physically pushy.

I don't take it personally.  Working with the public can be trying...but not an excuse for treating people badly.

I don't think I've ever had a rude cashier at a drive thru yet.

My dad had trouble with one at Wendy's a while back. We called the corporate office on them too. I don't think it did any good though
