I hate cancer!
« on: July 02, 2018, 06:26:12 am »
I just found out that one of my co-workers passed away from cancer.  She left work 2 years ago because of it.  She had gallbladder cancer which spread to her liver.  She was such a nice person and only 59.  Why can’t they find a cure for this disease?

My mom died from Breast Cancer, so it's just really hard to see others have this deadly disease, some people go on for yrs. without leaving this world, and for others it takes them away sooner than later. To say that you hate something, even Cancer, is a strong word, our lives are already predesignated by God, he knows when we are coming to our final home. No matter how we try and change our futures, it's God that has the final word.

No one would make any money if they cured Cancer.....  I find it odd Mayo has spent Billions on the DMC  project , they must know there will be no cure in the next 5 years ! You have to ask how do they know this..??   It's to big of a business are my thoughts.

I loathe cancer. My mom passed away at the age of 60 from Breast Cancer. She died in 2011. I have been lost in this world without her.

My cousin (aka my twin) died at age 12 from glioblastoma. She fought it for 4 years and we all thought she won. This was back in the '60s where there was no specialized children's hospitals or cancer hospitals. i don't even think St. Jude was there yet.  I still carry her last school photo taken before her cancer.

Another cousin  has fought cancer 3 times: kidney cancer twice (she lost one of them) and now breast. Her sister is now fighting colon cancer that metastasized to the liver.

MY husband's mother had lung cancer but metastasized to the spine and if she would have survived chemo (back then it was horrid punishment), she would never have walked again.

One of my aunts had breast cancer. She won.  I, myself, fought and hopefully won knee sarcoma, not quite osteosarcoma, but close. I still have my leg but my ex-sister-in-law whom I'm still close to has had it twice and lost her leg, plus fought breast cancer and now has leukemia.

Via genealogy, you name the cancer, and my ancestors on both sides have had every kind of cancer imaginable...so I'm not surprised when any relative gets it. I've said for years it was "in the  genes."

So yes, I hate cancer, too, and if I could, I would join the various cancer walks or other charities. I did give all my mom's wigs and hair pieces to the local ACS to give free to anyone who needed them. Hopefully they did that, and did not charge any victims.

I don't believe that. If there was a cure that close then someone else would have found it. Some other developed country would have found it. You are better off finding how to prevent it.  It's like skin cancer - stay out of the sun but yet people bake in it all day.

I know a white woman who lays in the sun all day every day.  She looks like a dried out piece of shoe leather and is as black as a burnt piece of toast left in the oven over night.  She doesn't care that she could get cancer. I have a family member that was posting about someone she knows who has skin cancer and reminding people to stay out of the sun.  A friend of hers is laughing sayin oh but you know how I worship the sun.  That's fine but keep your cry baby self off Facebook asking people to feel sorry for you when you get cancer. grrr.

I think a lot of it is caused by the crap and preservatives in our foods. The same with the dementia.  It's more about prevention than a cure.

It's odd how one person has it a bunch of times. Makes me think maybe they didn't really get rid of it all the first time or the radiation (which causes cancer) caused it to end up some where else.

My aunt has had breast cancer twice, thyroid cancer and seems like something else and now has brain cancer.  This one is going to get her.  Nothing else they can do.  She basically just lays in bed (at home) and stares at the ceiling. I don't know if she even knows the people around her are there.  I would like to think, for the ones closest to her, that she does.

Sorry to hear that. So young to die. I have lost family members to cancer. My brother was just 56 when cancer took his life. I wish they would hurry and find a cure for this awful disease which kills people of all ages.

You have to remember that cancer starts as a single cell or closely grouped bunch of cells going "rogue."  Because of this it may be that different treatments are discovered to help but never actually preventing it.  All it takes is one of those "rogue" cells "escaping' to another part of the body for it to spread.

It is devastating. Cancer runs in my family. My dad and his sister both had colon cancer (but it was caught early so they both survived). Their dad wasn't so lucky -- he died from it. I'm only 31, but have already had 2 colonoscopies because I'm at high risk of getting colon cancer.
