I don't understand what you are saying. Are you recycling all your trash by dumping it in a lake and what owner told you you couldn't do this any more? The owner of the lake?

I don't know why you would recycle into a lake. wouldn't that  pollute  the water .Unless there is a place by the lake where you can get rid of your recycling materials  :peace:

It sounds like you collect recyclables that people have thrown away... I see the same people doing this at a park I run at early in the morning.

If it is private property, then all you can do is ask them if you could come on their property to collect recyclables & if not, what could you do to be able to do it.   The other people who recycle might be friends of theirs & they want all the money. Or the owners just might be irritated because you didn't ask permission to collect their bottles.... some people are like that.   I would just talk to them nicely to find out.

If you were on private property you would need to abide by the rules and directives as stated by the owner. The owner must have a reason in mind when asking you not to recycle on the property in question. Ownership entails insurance costs and perhaps the owner is concerned about your safety as well as the increased insurance premiums that go with claims related to injuries received on the insured property. There is so much trash in this world, I am sure you can find plenty of recycling opportunities on public land. I have a lot of luck grabbing ten aluminum cans a day from work. My family provides five aluminum cans a day through their consumption habits. We have several parks near by that generate a few hundred cans every weekend. I'm not going to get rich at a penny a can but every cent helps and every can recycled is one less scar on our environment.

Sad to hear you can't do that anymore, but he has the right to let who ever he want do what ever in his property or not. Sorry!

He sounds like the type of person who wants his place to stay cluttered, keep mother Earth clean.

Did they not give reasoning for their decision?  It must've been an inconvenience to them in some way.

the thing is it is a lake and they have dumpsters where people throw out there plastic bottles and cans we were doing it for over a year until the owner or so he says got a wild hair

Okay, I think I got it! He may own the dumpsters but I don’t think he owns the lake. So, unless he owns the whole lake he can’t tell u not to pick up trash on or around the lake! If ur taking trash out of his dumpsters, then he’s got a case against u. I’d find out who really owns the lake property & learn who’s his boss is!

This makes NO sense.  No single person owns the lake. If you are leaving crap there for him to take to a recycle place then yes they can tell you not to do that. If you are picking up trash and taking it off I don't see why they would care.  Unless you are picking stuff up or digging in the trash getting stuff and taking it and selling it then I can see why they would say that.

Maybe you can be more clear about what you mean here.

Surely this person doesn't mean they are dumping crap in to the lake. That is NOT recycling anything.
