Handing cell phones to strangers

Yes your mobile phone is a rather personal item. It shouldn't need to be handed over to anyone unless it's your choice. Most people know how to handle phones. so if you needed to give it to someone don't be anxious.

A few years ago I worked a part time job and part of the time I worked a register. We had a loyalty card and some people had it on their phones. People did hand me their phone (if it would not scan by just holding it up - sometimes the screen protectors can hinder it from properly scanning) and I was always really careful with anyone's phone.  I do not see how you could drop the phone anyway just standing there at a cash register.

It would have to be some one very close to me that would be allowed to use my phone.

I would never put credit cards into my phone. All the exposure FB is getting for giving over our private info to China, (for payback) why would anyone put that information in a cell phone.

Just because your cell phone is in your hands, your info "out there" is soooo vulnerable.

I have no qualms about handing my phone to a cashier if they need to scan a card or code from it. If is is going to save me money, then I'll take my chances. It's not like I am handing it to a five year old. My experience has always been that cashiers or wait staff of whomever I hand my phone to are always super careful with it.  I also have a screen protector on my phone which is a strong protection from minor drops - like from a cashier's hand to the table or belt by the register.


I have accidentally dropped it from worse and my screen protector takes the brunt, but never even the slightest scratch on my screen itself.

I've never handed my phone to anyone like that.  Every cashier I've used my phone with had a hand held gun to scan the barcodes from my phone

I don't feel comfortable letting anyone using my phone

I'm fearful of other people's germs.  So no one is going to handle my phone.

I don't use my phone to pay for anything always the debit card.  I know it might but the thing of the future but until I am forced to do I probably won't

My daughter once told me that a man had asked her to give her phone to a complete stranger, she didn't know either one of them, he made her feel like its her duty to hand her phone over to someone she don't know, but she didn't do it. No one can make you hand your phone to some one you don't know.

I usually hold my phone and let them scan it with their hand-held device.

I do the same, I also get scared of germs. I'm not a germophobe or anything, but I never know if these employees just went to the bathroom and didn't wash their hands (and now they're touching my screen...where I will ultimately put my face up against it). I just know how people are and it's kind of gross.

Do you go out in public? Do you shop at stores? People have touched those things. Other people's germs are no worse than your germs. You would probably be surprised at the germs that are already on your phone.
