Handing cell phones to strangers

I hate giving my cell phone to cashiers who need to scan stuff. I've seen way too many people with cracked screens and I'm scared if I hand it over, then they'll drop it. I've never cracked a screen *knock on wood* and I hope to never have to go through that. Am I the only one who is apprehensive about handing a cell phone over to a cashier?

Then carry the card and give that to them.  I have never seen a cashier drop a phone.  Most people with cracked screens it is because THEY drop the phone.

If a cashier would ever drop my phone, the store where he or she works would be responsible for getting it fixed. Why should I have to pay for someone be careless with my stuff

They most likely wouldn't.  And if a cashier accidentally dropped it then that isn't being careless.  Most times they have the guns go they do not have to touch your phone anyway.  Like I said previously, most of the cards stored in your phone you can get a physical card.  Why not just get that and you don't have to worry about the cashier touching your phone.  It's like you expect the cashier to drop it before you give it to her or him.  If it is dropped as it is passing hands then it is just as much your fault as it is the cashiers.

I just got my first cell phone that could even act as a credit card and I haven't even put my cards in it yet. But you do raise a good point there. I certainly would not want a cracked screen either! I am so used to using credit cards anyways that it would probably take me a long time to get used to a phone credit card anyways.

I usually hold my phone and let them scan it with their hand-held device.

I am so used to using credit cards anyways that it would probably take me a long time to get used to a phone credit card anyways.

To me it just seems lazy to have to have your credit cards stored in your phone.  And what if the phone is lost or stolen?  I have had the mylowes card scanned at Lowe's but I hold the phone up (if I don't have the card with me which I always do) and the cashier uses the gun to scan it. The problem with that is they usually shoot the laser toward my eyes.

I'll never do it , i'm paying cash ...or  i'll hand them this , most kids wouldn't even know what this is !

I have a disability.  I have often asked to make calls  for rides using strangers phone.  I am also happy to lend strangers my phone.

Yes your mobile phone is a rather personal item. It shouldn't need to be handed over to anyone unless it's your choice. Most people know how to handle phones. so if you needed to give it to someone don't be anxious.

I would never lend a stranger my phone. You do not know who they are calling then who ever they call has your phone number and they will start calling you back looking for the person who borrowed your phone. Most businesses will allow customers to use their phones.

That is a little rude.  Most cashiers are not filthy and have not had their hands in filthy places.  Sometimes the phone will not scan unless you get it in a certain position.  Actually most people in general are not filthy. No more than you would be.  You have germs on your hands as well.
