Can Anyone Recommend Some Good Books?
« on: May 20, 2018, 07:52:04 am »
I would like to know what you are reading, have read, or are planning to read.

I want the type of book that is hard to put down. Lately, I find most of them very easy to put down, and I mean to go back to them, but they simply are not that compelling.

Keep in mind that I prefer fiction.

Thanks.

I would recommend reading the book Misery.  This book will keep you wanting to keep reading whole book in one day.

Are you referring to Stephen King's Misery?

The Stephen King book Misery was so much better than the movie.  The movie was okay but the book was better.  Usually the books are better than the movies anyways.  8) 8) 8)

With a few exceptions such as Bridges of Madison County. The book read like a first novel and did not do justice to the characters. The movie was much, much better. It put me inside of that movie.

My favorite book is Salem's Lot by Stephen King. Excellent read if you like vampires/horror.

Yes! That sounds great as does Misery. I cannot help but notice that both suggestions are by Stephen King.

Have you read "It" or "Insomnia?" Both excellent reads, and I loved the movie with Richard Thomas, John Ritter, and Annette O-Toole.

They certainly aren't modern books by any means but my favorite books as a young person were Gone with the Wind, The Grapes of Wrath and The Secret Garden. I want to read them again but I have to get large print somehow or some kind of techno way of reading books. I loved those books so much I got posters of each for my office.

I prefer non-fiction, as fiction is generally boring to me. However I just finished watching season 1 of The Terror on AMC, and now I want to read the book. It's fiction inspired by/based on the true story of Sir John Franklin's expedition to the arctic and the northwest passage.
