I worked in the food industry also and I can tell you I have seen some pretty disgusting things but when I'm ordering food I try not to think about that

I cannot even think about that....because I ate at Taco Johns tonight and I'm always suspicious that  activity such as this occurs at fast food places.  I'm not going to think about it.

So why exactly is the Chinese dish called 'Poo Poo Platter'?   Has anyone ever explored that?  Should we even look into it? 

Probably not.  I'm sure that most of us have consumed more than what we intended to.  Maybe a good detox cleanse every now and then will keep things in check.

Maybe, I don't think any of us really want to think about what we are really eating. Which is why nowadays I eat at home for I can know exactly what I'm eating. Eating out is always a gamble and is becoming more and more expensive.

That's  one reason why I show  absolute respect to all employees where I eat and tip properly. I also scrutinize my food w/o being obvious.

I paid for college by working as a waiter at two restaurants (and a bank for practical experience). One of theses restaurants had a five star rating. Tampering with food had a direct correlation to the rudeness provided by diners. Running a server ragged by asking them for something every five seconds, tipping less than five percent, and continuing to sit for coffee refills certainly warranted much worse than boogers. Ordering a well done steak and sending it back for being over cooked warrants the ire of the cook. Mother's Day will never be the same for me because mothers were the worst diners from the perspective of attitude and persistent demands. Double shifts were typically worked on Saturdays and Sundays without time to change various articles of clothing. I had witnessed the serving of beverages, to rude consumers, after being strained through dirty laundry and then spit in. People forget the golden rule with servers and treat them like slaves which is what their pay scale is.

I have wondered about that many times because I've heard it said so many times. I treat waiters and waitresses with the greatest respect I can muster and with a respectable, if not always more than generous, tip.

That's not because I worry about what they'll do to me, but because if you've ever been in their shoes, you know that it's one of the most difficult jobs in the world.
