Do you have a close family?

I think the older we get, we lose sight of our family and we turn more time to our friends and look at them more as being our family. I think this is sad.

I have been without family since my mother died in 2007...  its very strange, but Christmas shopping is a breeze , all my family is gone. My grand parent were all passed when i was just 12 , My dog Bunches is my only family.  I have a very small list of friends, my best friend (buddy)  took his life on the 21st of Dec. and I found him it  Really sucked !! They say God only gives you what you can handle but I have to tell you finding someone who put a gun to their head, IS not something anyone should ever have to handle, scary part was he wanted me to come to his house and had called 3 times. Cops think he was planning to take me with, as there were 2 bullets in the gun one was used.  Made my being alone at Christmas even worse.  Sorry for the sad story!

I am 64 and other than my two grown sons I don't have any family left to speak of - I technically have a brother and sister who I haven't seen since 2010 when our mom passed and it is sad- they both had drug problems and were greedy wanting more than their share of inheritance. I can't believe this month on the 10th is has been 8 years since I have seen either of them. Heartbreaking.

Parts of the family are close, parts are not as much....and some used to be close, but family members ruined it for life.

Such drama. Sticking with the ones that are close. That is a happy lil group

Am close to part of my family, the rest forget it. If they can get something from me then they are buddy.  buddy but if  I wont give them money or anything then they don't want anything to do with me. Strangely I am closer to my late son's wife and her new husband then I am with parts of my family. She has always been more like a daughter then a daughter-in-law. I have been there for her when her   mother couldn't or wouldn't take the time.  As for her new husband is  great. I call him my proxy son.

Yes, I am blessed that  my Mom is still here and a few first cousins whom I was very closed to growning up and we remain so today; I have a very, very small circle of friends who are like family so life is good.

I have a couple people I am close to.  Yes as we have gotten older and the grandparents (who held the family together) have died the family has grown apart and went their separate ways  It is sad.

I have a sister who I am very close to, only 1 cousin left and she lives about 1000 miles away.  We text and see each other about every 5 years.  I have 2 brothers who live on the other side of country.  Talk on phone, but haven’t seen them in years.  I thank God for my friends who are now my family.

I feel very close to my family and my husbands family. I could also call them "friends."  We're always in contact with each other. I have one that I see almost everyday.  We make a point of it.

I used to have close family, well they disowned me after bad choices. Their fault, I was a good man and still am..

My immediate family are somewhat close but I'm not too close to my aunts or cousins. Growing up my family was close but as time went on, things changed. I have a brother whom I haven't spoken to or seen in years, luckily his wife sends cards during the holidays so that's communication.
