Which Nat'l Park is Best for Hiking?
« on: May 02, 2018, 05:03:06 am »
I've narrowed down my choice of which national park to go hiking in this year to Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain National Park and Glacier National Park. Doesn't anybody have any advice about which one would be best?

Sorry, I've been to Yellowstone twice but haven't hiked there. I think any hike is a great hike. It's my dream to someday hike the Pacific Crest Trail and/or the Appalachian Trail. Have fun wherever you decide to go!

We personally prefer Big Bend National Park but, to be honest we've not been to too many others.  My husband actually saw a mountain lion once when he was hiking by himself:  glad I didn't!

I'm partial to Rocky Mountain since I live here. However, it's PACKED every single summer. So, either go REALLY early so that you can actually get a parking spot, or definitely go during the week. I probably have only been once in the last 10 years because it gets so crowded.

I never met a National Park I didn't like.  But I'd say Glacier is my favorite.

They are all great, I love Yellowstone, but the others have great trails as well.

I have heard that Yellowstone is the best.  I have never been to Yellowstone myself and I have never been hiking.  I'm just relaying what I have heard.

My favorite place to hike is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island.  However, it is not a very safe place at this moment since Kilauea is erupting.  It is absolutely amazing.  I have hiked in the Rocky Mountains.  It is very beautiful, also.
Have a wonderful day!

I wish I knew and could give an opinion for you. We just got free passes for the national parks, but have yet to go to any.

So far we've just gone to state parks and hiked. I liked Starved Rock in northern Illinois because we went right after a good rain and the waterfalls were incredible! :star:

And I definitely wouldn't like the ones that are crowded with people.
