I've read horror stories on women workers in daycare.... I don't think so much it is about the sex of someone in the daycare, more about doing proper research on the facility one is using before sending your child there.

Yes, I do feel comfortable leaving my children with a male teacher.  I am not going to blame an entire race on a few bad ones....

Whether someone is male or female has nothing at all to do with race.  Gender isn't a race.

People who work with children are supposed to have extensive background checks.  However, I think that there are issues with both males and females.  It just depends on the person.  Look how many females in high schools have been found carrying on with students in the past years.  It's not a gender issue, it's a morals, values, and boundaries issue.

I don't have kids, but I don't see any issue with a male teacher. What's the big deal? A man is capable of doing everything a woman is (and vice versa).

In this day and time anyone can be suspect you just have to go with your gut on stuff like this.  Not only day care but doctors, dentists, relatives, etc.

Luckily I have never had to put in children in daycare but I think I would be comfortable with either gender.  You have to remember when they actually start school you cannot request what gender they will have.  Unfortunately kids today have be taught a lot more about things that they should have to worry about but you have to get them to talk about everything to you.

Yes, I do feel comfortable leaving my children with a male teacher.  I am not going to blame an entire race on a few bad ones.  If I've done research on the daycare and trust it enough to send my kids there, I'm going to trust the people they hire.  It helps to be more hands on by talking constantly with my kids and with the teacher to get to know both the teacher and what happens in the classroom.  This way I can feel confident about who I am leaving my child with.

I have had male pre-school and elementary teachers for my children who were excellent.  I think you have to be vigilant and alert about what is going on no matter who the teacher is.

My son actually liked the male teachers he had better than most of the female ones.  There are good men and bad ones...you can't fear all men because some are bad.  Just the same as with women.

I did not put either of my children in Daycare, but if I did I suppose I would prefer a female teacher.

Day cares have been getting a bad reputation lately because of some that had some bad people working for them.  There are some who are good and take real good care of the children.  Fortunately my daughter has me to care for her son.

As a parent, if you put your child in a daycare, would you be comfortable with them having a male teacher? I would not want a male watching my child. I know things that are bad can happen with female teachers too, but I guess that I am used to women teachers and more comfortable with them.

I guess it would depend.  There have been a lot of female day care workers that have

*drugged kids to make them sleep so they didn't have to watch them
*denied them food or took their food away from them and threw it in the trash
*hit them, threw them against a wall, and on to the floor
*got mad when parents were late and left the child at the day care center alone, locked up and went home
*raped and sexually abused kids
*had babies die in their care due directly to something THEY done to the child so we can say murdered them
*left them on a bus/mini van in a hot care and they died from heat stroke

Uh, yeah, I think I would take my chances with a man any day.

Maybe not if there was a man alone, by himself with children... but I actually like the idea of a male teacher.... as you said, female can be horrible too, so it's not about the sex

You should NEVER have any teacher of either gender alone with a child. I have a friend who drives a bus for a day care and he said they are never, none of them, allowed to be alone with a child. There always has to be two.

I mean no disrespect with my thoughts, but I find this interesting.  I completely understand where you are coming from.  But what happens if a man says they want a secretary to be a woman.  Or any given job to be a man, or a woman, for that specific job.  It's ok to want such a thing from a woman's point of view but not a mans.  I just feel it is a viscous cycle where a victim mentality will never allow a peaceful society.

If I had children, I would keep my eyes on everyone; regardless of their gender, just a different world we live in today.
