I always wash them as you never know what germs are on them and who tried them on.  I also wash towels, sheets, blankets pretty much anything that is made of fabric.

Unless its an emergency where my kids or I need the outfit because something happened to what are currently wearing then I will wash the outfit. sometimes a new outfit an actual new outfit can be better than whatever you soiled yourself in.

I do not wash new clothes. It is rare that I have new clothes. I have two pair of blue jeans (one is four years old and the other is six years old). My boots are about eight years old and five dress shirts are about six years old (I did buy a new one at Costco last November for eighteen dollars). Undergarments are about six years old and socks are over eight years old. I have two pair of shorts that are over three years old and a pair of tennis shoes that are about four years old. It never takes me long to pack and laundry is easy to maintain. I can usually wear shirts three to four times/jeans for two weeks before having to wash them. I work from home twice a week which cuts back on the number of times that I have to do laundry. I have two suits but only have to wear those two or three times a year.

If it is from a thrift store I wash it before. Otherwise, I don't.

If I buy dry clean only, because they are cheaper in cost, seems they are on sale; than I do this, I wear them gently until I need to wash it, next, I decide if it is worth the dry cleaning or if I just wash them gentle, than I wear them until they get unshaped/color/feel changes. Here the cloths is getting expensive. I wear my clothes until worn out instead of donating them here-lately.

It's always a good idea to wash new clothes when you buy them. If you get them from a store, you really don't know the history of a particular garment. Even if you get it online, it might have extra chemicals on it from some cleaning process. Best to just clean it right before wearing it.

No, just air them out sometimes for a few months.

When you buy new clothes...do you wash before you wear ?  Sometimes I will and other times I don't.

Depends on the clothing...

I always wash clothes before I wear them.  Sometimes with darker clothes, you get color transfer.  It helps to wash them first.

The only time I've ever prewashed new items was for my newborns.

No.  I don't wash them first.  I know you're supposed to, but I like the feel of pre-wash new clothes.
