Junk removal services
« on: March 19, 2018, 04:25:07 am »
Anyone ever use any like 1-800-junk ?   Had to lay out 900 to clean out my father's apt. because he's in a nursing home. I'll get it all back when some of his tools are sold, but man 75 percent of it I could have tossed out on local garbage nights, but my sis. wanted it done in a day. They did a great job and the truck was filled but man I hate the easy way out on such things and laying out cash for things I could do myself, but my sis. was/is stressed dealing with my dad and her life.

I haven't used one of those kind of mover's of junk and stuff. I have used a UHAUL truck before, but those trucks you move your own stuff to and from the truck! :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover:

My sis rented a U-haul too for the stuff that wasn't  "Junk" that was like 40 bucks for the day and she got a 1 month free storage locker around the corner from me to store it.   Now she has to sell it all,put money aside for my dad,get me back my 900 and she still has to get his big stuff out of a warehouse and  store  then sell those items.  Fortunately it's closer to done then it was weeks ago.

We used a bagster once.  You can buy them at Home Depot.  They are green and really really big,  I’m not sure what they cost, but it wasn’t that much.  We redid our one bathroom.  The contractors put the old vanity, bathtub, toilet, old wall tile, old floor tiles, fixtures, etc.  in abd we still had tons of room, so we went into the basement and threw lots out.  When it was filled to capacity my husband and contractor tied it up,  we called the 800 number, put $300 on credit card, and the next day the truck came and took it.

Hey, Nancy, this was good information that I had not heard of before.  I am going to keep it in mind.  In fact, next time I am at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Menards, I am going to check "Bagster" out or see if there is a similar service at the other stores.  Is that what they actually called it...Bagster?

I have never used a service like that but back in the 90's I had a trailer and did this as a part time job. I had a full time job and this was my own business. I would do dump runs and make a few extra dollars. Once I not only cleaned out a house, I sold a lot of stuff the owner gave me, Painted the rooms in the house, and  did the landscaping on the property. That was a great profit back then :)

I just spent 2 weekends going through the "junk" in my storage shed from when I moved 7 years ago. I now have 11 garbage bags full of "trash" and a stack of mangled boxes 6 foot high and  4 foot wide. I am going to need a pickup truck to haul it home and put out for the trash men to take. I did find a Crown Royal bag of change while I was cleaning lol It had over $20 in it.
