Unfortunately costs are going up with inflation. Since their thing is that everything is sold for a dollar, they would have to cut back on size to still make a profit.
Soon the police will stake out dollar stores for robberies   "  But it was just  mouthwash, I have a date and am late."   "  Yeah you have a date with Big Bubba now,so take a swig."

I think its changing at all stores and most products, prices are slightly rising and/or product is shrinking.

Every company's doing this, and it's not just the package size. Anybody notice the actual Reeses peanut butter cups themselves are significantly smaller than they used to be, for example?

Easier to get us to buy less for the same price we expect and hope we don't notice the change, than to get us to buy the same amount for a higher price.

I think all manufacturers are reducing the size of their products. The price stays the same but the size changes anything from toothpaste or crackers.  :rainbow:

I hate the small Dollar Tree's that don't have a frozen food section. You can get some cool eats there for cheap.

I noticed the sizes for the chips and things have been shrinking.  Ever now and then I would  buy ginger snap cookies and months ago I bough some and hadn't bought any in a while and the bag was half the size they used to be.  They used to sell a big size bag of Twizzlers and that's half the size now.  Now I noticed the chips and cheese curls (Utz brand) is cut down.

Dollar Tree isn't doing it. That is like the idiots who yell at cashiers who drag an item across the scanner and the customer yells saying "you charged me wrong".  No they just scanned the item. Not their fault it is in the system wrong and if you are nice most will change it if they can.

Got off track but anyway. The company that produces the items make the decision as to what size the products are. Most times it takes customers a while to notice. This way they can not raise the price and the consumer is suppose to be too stupid to notice that it is the same difference.

This will continue to happen.  Sizes will decrease and prices will increase.  This is the result of people demanding higher pay wages for no skill jobs.  The CEOs and owners of these companies are not going to make less money.

In a business mind if it costs more to make a product they have 2 choices to raise prices or make smaller portions most businesses will cut the size of the product because consumers overall have a bigger problem with raising prices than getting less of a product.

For the dollar store if you think of it every thing is a dollar how much can you possibly get from the company so they can still make money

Not the ones who are paying attention.  I did not notice the bags of sugar had went from 5 pounds to 4 pounds until another customer pointed it out.  The bags look basically the same sitting on the shelf.

As for how they make money --- it is cheap crap.  I have argued with people about that and they can't see it.  You give a dollar for a plastic cup and the first time it is dropped on to the floor it breaks.  You give a dollar and a quarter at Walmart and you can throw it against a wall and smash it with a brick and it is still in tact.

I bought a box of brownies at Dollar Tree once.  I gave one dollar plus tax.  I went to Walmart and saw the same brownies and it was a larger size box and it was 92 cents.  People want to hate Walmart because they are jealous of the Walton Family having so much money.  I don't care.  I will purchase where I can make my money go the furthest.

sizes go down prices go up companies just cant make enough money
They  buy stuff for pennies and sell them for a profit and if ppl boycotted/demonstrated maybe things go in your favor ?

Demonstrate? LOL. You cannot be serious. Only an idiot would picket and demonstrate over the prices in a Dollar Tree.  You can boycott if you want but you have to buy from some where and they are all the same.  Yes, they buy it for a cheaper price than they sell it for.  That is how stores work.

A lot of products in stores a getting smaller, but the prices are staying the same or more.  The manufactures are definitely trying to rip off the customers.

The manufacturers are not trying to rip any one off.  The manufacturer does not set the price for what the stores sell the items for.  People also do not seem to realize it is costing the factories more to produce the products.  So it is passed on down the line.  You think it is bad now - wait until you see a $15 Federal Min Wage.  IF that ever happens then everyone with skills and education is going to want more because they should make more than flunkies that are not smart enough to get in out of the rain.  The prices of everything will go sky high.

People want to say that can't happen.  Look at Walmart.  Starting this year the starting wage is $11 an hour.  Look at the prices of items on the shelf.  Prices have sky rocketed.  I noticed yesterday when I got groceries.  Some items (like the Lunchables) have went up 3/4 of the price it use to be.  Lunchables use to be $1.  They were $1.76 yesterday.  That is for 5 crackers, 5 thin slices of meat, and 5 thin slices of imitation cheese.

Products in those bags have always been way below the half bag level, paying a lot and getting very little.

My problem is not really size as amount inside the bags/containers.  In most cases, things are only filled about halfway to begin with so, when they start cutting down the size of the outside, you get way less inside.  Yet the price does not decrease, which totally gets me mad.  If you are giving the consumer less, the price should reflect that.

Seems like every entity is down sizing the product while upsizing the price. Girl scout cookies were packaged at half the volume they used to be and the price was between four and five dollars. Circus cookies are an insulting joke being filled at less than half of the bag's  room. Tomstone pizzas are not even worth purchasing any more. I used to buy a Tombstone pizza and it was big enough to fill my girlfriend and I, and still have a few slices left over. I stopped buying any of these products-I won't contribute to their capitalistic piggery. What happened to trying to please the consumer? I make cookies from scratch at one tenth of the cost of pre-packaged cookies. Kind of like Comcast's gluttony wiped out by Amazon's fire stick. I actually derive quite a bit of pleasure knowing that Comcast is suffering. The same will happen with the net neutrality bend. Someone will find a workaround and the big corporations can say goodbye.
