Are beauty pageants good or bad?

A friend of mine has a daughter (9 years old) who appears in pageants. As a parent, I would not let my daughter dress in clothes showing her mid section or lots of make up.  I have not mentioned this to my friend, but I would be uncomfortable having people see my child "half dressed".

I would describe them as "all good" or "all bad." I think they *could* help girls with their self-esteem and be something fun a mother and daughter could do together. But I agree about showing too much skin. I feel like it would be pervert central at those pageants if the little girls are showing too much.

    Some companies considered your height, weight,
     looks, personality characteristics and much more
     before hiring. It was a way to select only the best
     applicants.
     I do not know if that is still legal in the selection process.

I think the whole thing is so stupid. It is more for the parents ego then anything else. It is just like Facebook with parents showing their kids off all day and night.

For younger kids I agree that they should not be forced into them.  They have enough pressure now days with school etc.  If they want to do it when they are older and make up their own mind I think it is perfectly fine.

I don't think they're good. They claim they do such wonderful things for girls and are about more than just looks but that's such an obvious lie.
