It is pretty quiet around my neighborhood even during the holidays. I like to hear people having a good time though. There is just too much bad things happening. I want anything good around me.

There are barking dogs everywhere around my neighborhood. It's maddening.  :angry7:

And now my next door neighbor has decided that she will put all of her trash and recycling cans in front of my house since they don't feel they have room in front of their house. I don't even have enough trash and recycling to put out all the time.

It made me mad at first but then I thought it didn't really matter. However, their cans are overflowing and now I've gotten a letter from the city that they will file a claim against me if I don't straighten the mess out.  :(

I called the city. Then I talked to my neighbor who still puts all her trash and recycling in front of my house, even though I told her about the letter I got from the city. What the . . . ? Any suggestions?

Nothing too terribly bad goes on now where I live, it's a trailer court and the owner would definitely NOT put up with it!! But I sure have lived in some awful places that weren't so good. I've called the cops many times because of loud parties and music til 2 or 3 a.m. Not everyone is fortunate enough to not have to work on holidays but some people are just too ignorant to realize that. :(

Barking dogs can be terribly annoying. But it's not their fault they have bad masters that don't put them inside or teach them to not bark all the time. As for your neighbor's trash, what does the landlord have to say about it or do you own? I think if I was you I'd take it upon myself to just move it right back over to their house since they seem to not have any concern about it. Or just haul it to the dump, but then they'll probably do it again and it shouldn't be your responsibility to take care of someone else's garbage.

My closest neighbor is almost deaf and very quiet.  So my dog barking her fool head off doesn't bother him.

The guy who I have renting my front apt. decided to blast some monkey music (loud drums and screaming) so loud the entire block was coming outside and  to find out wtf was it coming from and I had to go into my basement and hit the electric switches to teach him manners. It was the first and last time he pulled  that bs.

Christmas is not that bad, it's cold so everyone stays inside so the voices doesn't carry over to my home.  I think it's worse for the summer holidays like July 4th - people are partying outside in their backyard, so loud!  And since the days are longer they party until the night!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Summer parties that drag on into the night are the worst. People yelling and messing with firecrackers at all hours. I think at Christmas the cold makes everybody want to go home and go to sleep   ;D

Neighbors noises don't much bother me when there's actually a holiday to celebrate. We do live in a detached house, but you can still hear fireworks going off in the cul-de-sac in front of our house. The only thing that bothers me about fireworks is that it scares my cat, Tinker, so much.  :cat:

My neighbors either go to bed early, or go out to celebrate.

It is very quiet here, as its lots of old folks....of which I am one :)

You need to stop them from using your yard as their trash drop off! If they won't comply to not using your yard, sue them for trespassing on your yard! Take care of them before the city takes care of you in which you'll be paying for something you didn't do!

We live in a townhouse, so we're all in the closest proximity to each other that you can get. However, our neighbors are very quiet. They don't seem to host many parties, or even entertain guests much at all. Over the summer/fall, two doors down, the gentleman who lives there did play music loudly in his backyard at night, but it didn't bother me too much.
