Mario Batali has just been accused of groping women in his restaurant and tv show.  He has left the Chew daytime show and Food Network has pulled his show.  What’s going on lately, it seems like everyday you hear about another person being accused.

 
I just hope everyone being accused has actually done the crime that they are being accused of (as sad as that was to put into words) This is a movement for everyone in the world to have the courage to speak up if something has been done to them. So many people are ashamed or fearful of speaking out against someone who has sexually abused them.

Mario has admitted to a problem, mostly when he was drinking. In fact the bulk of the people accused have admitted to some of the accusations and not called everyone who said anything about them a liar.  This is a problem across the board not just in the entertainment industry.  I think it needs to be looked at  case by case so that the people just being vindictive cannot get away with it.  I worked for a police department in a large city for a time, and even when you did come forward you were treated like it was your fault.  It was treated as a very low priority and evidence sat around for years before they did anything.   Reading some of the comments on here, you can see why it is still very tough for some to come out.  You have to have a strong support group around you and be strong yourself to go through this, it is sometimes worse than the original assault.  Also many people now are having real guilt trips that they did not speak out sooner and prevent this from happening to others.  Thank God attitudes are changing so that victims can come forward.  Also people need to be able to differentiate between an attack and an accidental touch, or a rude and insensitive comment.

We lowered the bar when Bill Clinton was elected President (twice!) after the information came out about his sexual escapades.  Unbelievable!  The highest office and honor in the USA should not have belonged to someone with his morals.  So, if the President can practice that type of behavior why would anyone else think it was wrong for them to do the same?

I'm sorry, but twenty years later and I still don't understand why everyone was so upset about that. I get that he cheated on his wife, but it was with another consenting adult. Presidents have lives outside of the presidency. As long as it didn't have anything to do with giving away state secrets I don't care (and have never cared) that he got some action underneath the desk of the oval office. He wasn't bragging about it, Monica was willing. Really, the only people whose business it was would be the three people involved.

Er...um..Clinton's indiscretion ocurred after he was in office and was between two consenting adults. Still not right because he was married to someone else and the location of his infidelity was lacking in decorum. It appears that the current president finds the accusations of nineteen accusers to be fake news and voters knew about it prior to him taking  office. A video that shares his feelings about indiscrimately grabbing women's private parts (using a horribly, uncouth term to describe what he was grabbing), that he has apologized for, is also now fake news. Both he and his wife have been in indecent film ventures that are easy enough to locate on google. With role models like these it seems to be no wonder that other sub-human individuals feel that they can take advantage of their positions in power to demean people (male or female).

I think we are seeing a recent wave all because of Harvey Weinstein. For the longest time, despite the accusations, he was still in powerful and almost untouchable. Every since his fall, women have seen that their voices make a difference now. If the one of the biggest predators can be taken down then no one can hide from these misconducts.

After hearing about all of these accusations one question pops into my mind which is why now? I myself been sexually assaulted before but did not report it as I didn't feel I had enough proof. If these men really did these things to these women I hope they pay their retributions. I don't really want to judge these men until I have more information. Furthermore, I want women to stop faking sexual assaults which make it difficult for real victims to come out. May the truth bring closure if it is the truth!

Not sure what new sources you are looking at but from what I am seeing the majority have denied that any of what they are accused of is true. Women do a lot to bring stuff on themselves and then want to scream rape later. You can't dress like a *bleep* and hang all over a man and then when something happens cry rape. And most of them do it of their own free will and then change their mind or get mad when they realize they were just a one night stand and they didn't mean anything and want to cry rape. I don't believe any of it. My opinion and I have a right to that. Nobody has to agree with me. But I feel like most of them are lying. Esp if it has been 20 years.

It does seem a like of these terrible issues keep popping up. It's odd in a way, but I think it's happening because our society is now to the point where it'll take these complaints seriously whereas in the past a woman might have been worried about receiving justice. It's good that so many women feel they can come forward now.

I don't think so.  Read the comments on the stories.  MOST people do not believe it. They aren't being "taken seriously" especially when it was from 20 years ago. People roll their eyes and move on. I think the women are seeing it as an easy pay out. So they make accusations to try to get money. If I were on the jury and it was one word against the other I would not believe her over him just because she said unless there was some pretty strong evidence that something had happened. It's kind of funny but when a woman was accused of sexual misconduct every one just shoved that to the side. WHY?  Why are women not held accountable for the things they do?

I think one of the reasons many of these women didn't immediately report these situations is because the men had power, notoriety, and money whereas the woman was in a much "lesser" position, sometimes depending on these men to not blackball them in their careers.  I don't believe every single one of these incidents are true, but I believe the majority of them happened.  It is amazing how many women will blame another woman rather than stand up for their own sex after the many years that women have been in positions where they have been subordinate to men.  It is the story of history!  I am sure another reason women have spoken up is the solidarity of others speaking up and feeling safer to do so!

Any comments about how the way one dresses can cause rape are misleading. I can attest to the fact that there were times I did dress inappropriately, but it was my behavior that ultimately led to situations that were "close calls". 

I know that I let things go too far at times and it ended badly.  Almost being raped is a very traumatic thing, but I wonder if sometimes women are letting things go too far and then are unable to back out of the situation without some bad things happening.

And just like right here, they determined guilty before proven.  I'm sure a lot of these are legitimate and I am also sure a lot of them aren't.  This could be said about any guy in the world and it would ruin them no matter what the outcome is.
