When I had long hair I would just trash my brushes when it gets old or unusable to me.

Trash them, hairbrushes are meant for only the one person using it...lol. Never know what's in a brush until you truly inspect it. lol

Yes I say personal hygiene items of any kind even hair brushes are better thrown away - there are plenty of items that are good for donation so I say just throw away those personal items.  It is nice that you are conscious of giving.

I think I would just trash them. I'm sure you're clean but you never know with things like that when people would have lice and it can jump from one place to another these days.

I think throwing the brush away is best.  People might not want a used hair brush.

How coincidental, I just thought I needed a new brush just this morning... I will be putting my current one in the recycle bin because it is plastic.   

Charities don't reuse hair brushes, it is not hygienic.
