When I was younger, we would all have dinner together,; open our gifts, play games and just have good family bonding. Now that I am retired and it's just me & hubby we really do not do anything special.

No, I never had Christmas traditions in my home.  Although I find that it is really great.

I usually let the kids open one gift on Christmas eve but this year there will be no gifts- they've skipped baths, half did their chores, and argued one time too many.  Typical of kids, I know, and they're great kids, but no consequences means no change.

So this year we're going to initiate a new tradition of passing out foods/needs to the needy.

I use to put up a tree, lights, bake sweets, get eggnog, play various music and buy scented candles.

Ever since I was little we opened presents on Christmas Eve, that came from my fathers doing :) He passed away 30 years ago and ever since my mother and I always open them on Christmas Eve. But over the last 20 years we order pizza and eat it right before opening presents :)

I also put my Christmas tree and decorations up before Thanksgiving that way the house looks festive for when family come over for dinner

When our kids were still at home we would open 1 gift on Christmas Eve but my husband and I don't do that now that the kids are grown and gone lol.  One of our daughters adopted that tradition with her children.

We had no traditions when I was growing up.  When I got married I made our own family traditions.  On Christmas Eve we go to church, drive around and look at all the different lights, come home and the kids put out cookies and milk for Santa when they were young.  We opened our presents Christmas morning and I would cook a big meal and invite the family over.
