Good Heavens! A local town is no longer going to have parking meters

They are removing them from a section of the city but you still have to pay to park. How? You have to download an app for your smart phone and pay by credit or debit card!!!!!

How crazy is that? A $0.50 cent parking fee and you need to use your credit or debit card. To be charged interest on the credit card and a fee for using a debit card (is there such a thing?)

What about the people that don't have a smart phone? What do they do?

Thankfully I live in a town where we don't have parking meters.  I know lots of people without cell phones... and if they do own a cell phone it's a basic one... no app's.  I like parking garages.  They are easy to navigate and the fee 's up front... i dunno what people will do without the app.  Maybe they'll issue some sort of ipass thing... ya know like tollways?

Oh, wow!  That is crazy!!  Our little town took out the parking meters a long time ago.  Parking is free now.  There isn't much in the town worth paying to park to visit!

I, too, am noticing smaller as well as bigger cities getting very technical with parking.  There is a new store that just opened up in an area of my town that I would like to visit.  Parking around the whole area is getting to be a real nightmare.  Thankfully there is another store similar to this one on the other side of town that I will go to instead.  I've been to that one before and they have a whole parking lot with free parking.

It is very expensive and harder rules to park downtown. I take the bus when I have to work downtown.

This is hassle especially when we drive to downtown Chicago.  You have first find a spot then walk a block or more to find the pay box to use your app on.  We try to take the train down but if we are going way up north it is too far to walk from the train

I don't necessarily like it, but this is the direction our world is heading.  The younger generations want things immediately and they will continue to invent things that the rest of us don't feel good about.  Wait and see what happens in the next ten years.

I haven't seen parking meters in years.
I use a debit card and there is are no extra fees.
paid timed parking has been replaced with parking garages.
That town must be the last to use parking meters anyway.

What next?  I went to a benefit auction for Cystic Fibrosis and we had to bid on our smartphones.  Some people didn't bring their phones, some didn't own a smartphone, and people were disappointed and upset.

I don't know what to say?
I know that some areas have parking meters which i have used in the past but i prefer to pay a onetime fee in a parking lot/ parking garage with cameras, security and lot staff if i go to an event to spend a half a day or more.
