Wine in the evening
« on: September 22, 2009, 03:20:42 pm »
Hello, I like to have a couple of glasses of wine at night after dinner. I have doing this for most of my adult life w/no problems. My live-in, who I've been with about a year, has all of a sudden started complaining-stating anyone who has a daily drink has a problem. I'm just curious and would like to know what a few others think. Thanks!

i know someone who does this too, and she's
kinda in denial about the whole thing. she rationalizes
it by saying "don't i deserve it?" or "this is the only thing
i do for myself, and it makes me happy, so why not?" ...

which are all pretty good points  :dontknow:
but it does hurt her family because she tends to get
emotional in conversation and it changes her demeanor.

i suppose you have to ask why it upsets your live-in,
and try to understand where he/she is coming from.
they may see a problem that you can't see and it wouldn't
hurt to listen to their side.

...at the same time, you have one life to live, right?
you should do what makes you happy.

You have a couple, meaning TWO? I honestly see nothing wrong with that. And your live in is wrong a daily drink of wine is actually very good for you, (if your not an alcoholic). Ask any doctor. Is there something you may be doing that you are not aware of?
Maybe you should talk it over with your live-in and see what the problem is.

I am a social drinker and I rarely go out anymore so for me anyone who has to have a drink or two every single day is addicted and that can be a problem but that's just my opinion.   Have you tried going a a few days or a week without drinking?  How does/did that make you feel?  I think if you can't go a day without it and you crave it then that is probably an addiction.
